About a week or so I saw the new Rambo movie. Not exactly my favorite movie of all time, but it was fun. Considering my expectations were slightly under the depths of hell, it ended up being worth watching.
Then the other night Rambo 2 was on TV. It was the SAME - DAMN - MOVIE! Go rescue prisoners being held in some bad guy Asian area. The only difference was the colonel guy (the best thing that ever happened to Rambo movies) is dead and therefor both me and Rambo have even less hope in the future than before. Well, I figured if my tolerance is built up, I may as well go ahead and tackle all of these Stallone movies while I still have the strength. I watched the new Rocky movie. I thought it was actually pretty decent. Why? It was the SAME - DAMN - MOVIE! ( as Rocky 1). A black world champion challenges an over the hill boxer to an exhibition in which the white guy doesn't win but performs so admirably that he kind of does win. So I've decied that Stallone is an idiot genuis. He simply utilized well known franchises and remade specific films for a younger audience. He didn't even have to bother rewriting them. Just use the old script. Who cares! Brandon

The same thing can be said about 99% of the rock bands out there from the glory days. Well, the good ones anyhow.
We got STYX playing at the local county fair this fall and if I go (don't laugh asshole), I don't ever, ever, ever want to hear Tommy Shaw announce "here's a few off our new album". I wanna hear Blue Collar Man and Mr. Roboto motherfucker! Give the people what they want. AC/DC has been doing it for decades. So has Cheap Trick. Or as Mike Love says, "don't fuck with the formula". Well, it's one thing AC/DC keeping a similar style. It's another thing to write a "new" song that goes
dah........dah dah duh.............dah dah duh and name it Black In Black 2. Even though I'm bitching about it here, I did enjoy the new Rocky and Rambo movies....even if I had already seen them before. Brandon

Actually, look at any of Shakespeare's tragedies. All five acts, with the climax in the middle, and everyone but the two or three wise people ends up dead.
So, what I'm saying is, Stallone is our equivalent of Shakespeare. What if...? -Tyler

No Netflix account. I wait for the DVD buying drones of my friends and family to let me borrow their DVDs afterwards. A good movie is still one of the few "consumer" activities I find fun.

All I know is that I was shocked to see that Rambo 1 actually had a great story (which fit in very nicely with my Cold War reading this year) and Rambo 3 had at least some story as well. It's a nice cock n balls compliment to Charlie Wilson's War. Brandon
