Who or what was the inspiration for your musical journey? who gives you chills up the spine now?

My original inspirations were AC/DC, early Metallica and Slayer when I was around 13, I swapped an SG Copy for a yamaha psr keyboard that I never used and that was my fate sealed. Later I discovered dance music and psy trance and drum n bass started to do weird things to me. I still listen to all the above and my current faves would have to be nightrage, lamb of god and arch enemy for metal and philosomatika.com and dnbradio.com for dance.

Oh, growing up in the 80s a radio was always on. The pop music of the 80s hate a tremendous influence on me even though I didn't realize it until I hit my mid 20s.

The big record for me was The Offspring 'Smash' which hit when I was 14. From there I jumped head first into rock music. By my late teens, I hit metal pretty hard, but grew bored with most of it when I got into my 20s.

Now my tastes vary quite a bit and are not really bound by any single genre.

Well, Bob Dylan is definitely the first folk artist I took seriously. But I think the first Woody Guthrie cd I bought was the first time that I heard something in folk music that I couldn't hear in any other kind of music. So I think I'd have to say that Guthrie is my primary influence, with too many others to name coming in second.

The first music I really got into was The Beach Boys. My dad was a big 60's California sound fan since he lived there for awhile; Beach Boys, Ventures, Mamas and Papas, Byrds, Iron Butterfly, CCR et al. He had a nice collection of albums that I ruined. He also had some British Invasion stuff that I am eternally grateful for having been exposed to. He was into all kinds of cool shit; everything from Herb Albert (don't laugh, it's cool) to the Young Rascals to Johhny Cash to Buck Owens. All of it played into what I consider good.

The first "contemporary" band I got into was The Police. Shows my age huh?

In high school I moved onto the LA and Minneapolis punk bands; DK, MOD, Husker Du, Replacements, Dead Milkmen.

I also like be-bop jazz; Dizzy, Trane, Miles, Monk, Bird, et al.

I like anything that an American Idol contestant won't sing!
