Default Obama and Special Olympics

President Obama's 'Special Olympics' Joke Lands Him In Hot Water - THINK MTV

It appears that the politically correct police are out wasting their energy yet again.

We have MAJOR issues that need to be discussed in terms of our economic future and the only thing the public can muster up the energy to focus on is a stupid joke.

Besides, it's not even that good of joke. I have a mentally retarded uncle. He sometimes has trouble going up and down stairs. I'm positive he would be a TERRIBLE bowler although he is a hell of an arm wrestler and more up on DVD burning than anyone I know.

Ridiculous isn't it? I have to say that here in the UK, it's reached an impossible situation where you cannot breath without fear of offending some minority of one ... or another.

An amusing story which is slightly off topic but made me smile yesterday though. We have our own immigrant problems here, and the story went that a shopkeeper somewhere had decided to ban non English speakers from his shop as he thought anyone coming here should at least make an effort to speak our language. Fair point. Anyway the bit that made me smile was that the shopkeeper turned out to be Asian himself A good giggle was had by many people, but it made me wonder that if it had been a white British shopkeeper, they would want not only his head, but those of his family too.

It's a mad, sad world.

It does seem that only "people of color" and/or established Liberals can get away with that sort of thing.
I wonder: If "Ethnic Europeans" i.e. whites, are on the whole so racist and intolerant of other peoples' ethnicities and cultures, why the others would go to such great lengths to live among them?

Whammo, dude, that was like the most crazy racist thing said in seriousness (esp. the 2nd part) I've heard in a long time. You were serious....?

How can an observation be racist? It seems that I, an ethnic european- wonder of wonders- hasn't gotten away with it.

How can a question be racist?

If you think that words, ideas and questions can be "crazy and racist", you go right ahead and live your life that way.

As for me, I'll go ahead and make the obvious but touchy points and ask the tough questions. My respect for all my fellow men everywhere require it of me.

If observations, words, ideas and questions don't convey racism, what does? How else do people convey their thoughts to others? Espousing bigotry is not service to the Human Race. You can't really cloak it as something useful or beneficial.

You've also misunderstood that the adjective "crazy" was a modifier of the word "racist" and not appertaining to the comments themselves. In that context, "crazy" meaning racism wildly out of proportion to any sort off rational thought.

P.S. Proudly being of European heritage, it's important to remember, "European" is always capitalized.

I think that ACTIONS constitute racism. And I don't mean the action of posting a message you are unable or refuse to refute.

As for service to the human race, I don't believe that one is obligated to service, but as for espousing unabashed truth, or questioning a politcal mindset, it is of undeniable service to humanity.
Is it a great service to those with emotional problems to throw the word 'crazy' around?

I honestly don't want this to be a heated argument. But you haven't addressed the substance of what I said. You've merely dismissed it as 'crazy racism'. And that, my friend is actual bigotry.

As per wikipedia: "A bigot is a person who is intolerant of or takes offence to the opinions, lifestyles or identities differing from his or her own, and bigotry is the corresponding attitude or mindset."

Webster: a person obstinately or intolerantly devoted to his or her own opinions and prejudices ; especially : one who regards or treats the members of a group (as a racial or ethnic group) with hatred and intolerance

Do you really think I wasn't expecting differing opinions? I am encouraging and welcoming differing opinions. Especially yours.

Anyway, thank you for the english lesson. I managed the shift key properly in the first message, but I did manage to miss it the second time in my haste.
I hope it does't take too much of your time policing all the text on the interwebs, if it was special just for me, double thanks.

if any of you think YOU'RE NOT RACIST or NOT PREJUDICED you're dreaming... we're all human and it's just a fact we must accept and maybe "work on".

I feel that as a caucasian (Italian/American ancestory) I'm LESS RACIST than most minorities that I meet. There is much more racism in black sections of town (as a remodeling/ HUD rehab contractor I work in a lot of black sections) than most other parts. That's my two cents.

No way! I'm not prejudiced… I hate everybody equally!

This is obviously not true. It's not even silly or naive - just wrong. I'm quite sure some old lady sitting in her front room and saying, "Those damn wetbacks are all alike. They come here, make a bunch of babies and steal from everyone and bilk our government out of taxpayer dollars" is a racist, bigoted statement. Apparently, this isn't so because, thankfully there's no such thing as a racist statement. Boys who grew up hearing, "Hey, nigger, you're just a walking piece of shit and will never amount to anything" were not exposed to racism.
How you ridiculous you are to think words don't aren't consequential. Communication of a threat of assault is a crime. It's amusing how you've rewritten reality to excuse yourself.

Don't it twisted. That's twice, now.

Not really. "Dismissed" is not what happened. I called you on it. Finger in face. It was something to the effect of, "If we whites weren't so wonderful, why would the other races be so anxious to be live among us." Unable to refute this? Really? Do you still stand by your original statement as meritorious? Wow - that's really all I have. I've shown it to friends and that's (with a "whew" and a "Hmm" thrown in) what they've been able to come up with.

P.S. "English" should also be capitalized.
