New Media Center Computer for the Wife
My wife's laptop got a virus a couple months ago and has gone downhill to the point of going direct to blue screen upon startup. Eff'd up and done.
So I was tired of hearing her complain how it takes longer to update her facebook on her cell phone, because she thinks she needs to be on Facebook 80 times a day. I offered to build her a media center.
I went to Frys after a lot of research and picked out parts for apretty darn mean machine. Got a tripple core AMD processor, 4 gigs ram, HDMI and tv-tuner video card, and a wireless internet pci card, all inside a sleek micro ATX box you can pick up and move.
When checking out the price was much lower that I added up on research, quickly found that they forgot to charge for the hard drive. Even the guy that checks the receipts didn't catch it. Got the wife to walk quickly to the van and get out quick! Also found out they not only forgot to charge for the $80 hard drive, but the $100 bluetooth wireless mouse/keyboard.
In the end after tax got a awesome media center with a TV tuner with recording functions, wireless internet, surround sound capabilities, 500 gig hard drive, and enough power and memory to handle it, all in a little box for $700.
Eat it, mini-Mac.
