Default Michael Jackson Dies

I just heard the news today that Michael Jackson has passed on. Even though I've probably made fun of the guy as much as anybody I can't help but feel a bit down. While last week I didn't think twice about Michael Jackson, it just kinda sucks knowing the dude is dead.

I guess anyone growing up in the 80s is going to feel some kind of loss even if they weren't big on his music. Hell, I had a Michael Jackson wallet.

As a child of the 70's and a 20's Something of the 80's, I fondly remember MJ.

MJ made his mark duing the late 70's and early 80's. I was 20 years old when Thriller came out. It was not cool for a 20 year old dude to be seen carrying around a Michael Jackson album (but I did). So shoot me!

In the 80's, his music was good. Good pop. Good dance. And most of his songs hold up today. I can still bob my head to Billie Jean and Beat It (especially Eddie's signature guitar solo).

In the 80's, he was a music video pioneer (The Thriller video...which is popular with teenagers today...I also DJ and always get requests to play the Thriller video so they can dance to it). Keep in that when Thriller came out MTV was a lttle over a year old (MTV's birth... Aug 1, 1981). AND THAT'S WHEN MTV PLAYED MUSIC VIDEOS THANKS to Alan Hunter, Martha Quinn, Nina Blackwood, etc.

Okay done reminiscing. Back to my milk and cookies now.

Strange that eh? I've been feeling pretty similar. When I heard about it my first reaction was that it was another MJ joke... poor bastard.

I hear Farrah Fawcett passed on too.

Unfortunately MJ overshadowed FF's death and people are complaining about it. Tough situation. MJ was a global icon which explains the vast news coverage.

I'm just as upset about FF as well. I was one of those horny 15 year olds who had her poster hanging in my bedroom.

I watched Charlie's Angels for one reason and one reason only.....

Shoot me too. It is sad that another human being has died. And that's it. The wall to wall news coverage is a symptom of the world cashing in; the hollow words of tribute are now spewing ffrom the mouths of those who bad mouthed the guy and .. believe it or not, other people died the same day!

Well said!

It's shocking how they immortalized a guy who was a human punching bag (never convicted of pedophile activities) for the past 1.5 decades is now a hero to us all.

When Fera Faucett died, she went to heaven and stood in front of St. Peter at the pearly gates. St. Peter looked at her and said "Well done, good and faithful servant. Before you enter the kingdom of Heaven, you may have one final wish." Fera looked at St. Peter, thought for a moment, then said:

"I wish for all the children of the world to be safe as they sleep at night..."

So God killed Michael Jackson.

That is the best thing I've read in a while. Thanks

Does anyone else see the "Michael Jackson ringtones" ad at the bottom of the page? Is this irony I smell in the rafters?
