Why don't you try and get some sponsorship instead? A single banner ad at the top of your page isn't going to hurt anything (if you're allowed with these simple machine forums), but in return for advertising, you might be able to get some manufacturer sponsorship to offer free competition products. Personally, I wouldn't invest in it at this time... you may have to do these things on a regular basis, and that would get really expensive for you. As to the answer... I don't know what $200 buys you where you are. If it buy's you some kind of MP3 player/recorder and microphone, to scratch down ideas, that would be what I'd choose. We've just bought a couple of HiMD recorders at the school for getting down ideas. I used one to record our band rehearsal last week, and was quite impressed with what it was able to capture. It actually records uncompressed WAV format too if you want to get serious about it, but at the very least, it records in good enough quality to capture stuff. Sony have now (at last) added the functionality to transfer back from the recorder to your computer via USB. For way too long, it was only possible to go the other way. One other thing that seems to go down well is software plugins, but I don't think there are many using a common format here right? Is there a VST wrapper for Vegas for example? Rich |

The sponsorship is an interesting idea. I dont think I'll impress anyone with a forum with 19 members. Right now, the general idea is to get this thing to become an active forum. When I have at least 10 guys who post on here every single day and exchange valuable information, the site will grow fast. Until then, I'm never going to get my investment back. So the focus is on attracting new members. I figure the idea of rewarding people for using my forum will help this quite a bit. If there are two equal forums and one is going to give away free stuff from time to time, I know which one I'll join. For example. If I could get a free subscription to EQ magazine by getting 10 friends to join, I might even try to convince them. That's certainly better than nothing. I'm not going to spend a fortune on this deal, but it's worth a lot to me to have a developed community. Man, I'd pay more than I paid for my house to have a developed community back in 1996 or so. I'd definitely think that recording time would be a good incentive for local guys anyway.? For everybody else tell them they'll get copies of our marketing idea e-mails.? They're worth billions.? If you could, though, just censor my obsession with Dirty Dancing. |

I've censored your Dirty Dancing fetish from my own brain. Sometimes, you just have to overlook the bad things in a person...you know... He's a childmolester, but I don't want to think about that end because he is a nice guy. Same thing with Dirty Dancing. I'm going to have to put the band marketing emails on audio. No one reads that crap! Brandon |

If we need to break our old e-mails down into nice easy to read cohesive articles, I think we should...for a price. If they're going to audio, I'll only ok it if Morgan Freeman reads what I wrote. |

I wouldn't complain if ole Darth Vader read it either. What is it with old black actors? They always have tremendous voices. James Earl Jones and Morgan Freeman are allowed in my book. I once went to some IMax deal somewhere. Tom Cruise did the voiceover stuff. He sounded like a total pussy. Unacceptable. Brandon |

I know Swayze's not black but he could read mine also. There I go again...what am i saying??? Okay, Swayze's out. If I can't get Morgan Freeman, then I'd like to have Samuel L Jackson read it. He'd probably have to add some explitives. |
