Les Paul died today.

Hardly an irrelevant topic.

A member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Paul is credited with pioneering the electric guitar, the Gibson Les Paul model guitar has been the instrument of choice for the likes of ERIC CLAPTON, JIMMY PAGE, EDDIE VAN HALEN and DUANE ALLMAN. Paul also made huge strides in recording technology including the process of layering guitar parts one on top of the other, or overdubbing. Paul was 94 years old.

well... i don't think the world should be sad about it. after all - the man has done a tremendous job, he has such an influence on music history... Don't think many can step up to his level. Rest in peace, LP - you have done your best and left an significant track in the history of music.

Funny thing about Les Paul, mostly people talk about his technical accomplishments. That dude also made a lot of fantastic records.

This is a 78 side that my grandparents had passed down. I heard it when I was about 14 or so and bought a black Hondo Les Paul copy and hid it from my parents for, like, a month. I worked and worked on that silly thing and thought, man, I'll never learn to play like him... listen to all that stuff he's doing at once!

Yes, that is a VERY famous recording, too! Bravo!
