Default Drug Commercials

So I'm scrolling through Youtube, trying to avoid Flash Tutorials made by 12 year old kids who haven't quite mastered speaking yet, and I see this ad for Meth.

Of course, it's a .gov site so that means our government (you and I) paid for it.

I've decided I don't want to pay for commercials for drugs. I think there should only be 2 commercials.

1) For products I've created and intend to sell.

or

2) Featuring bouncing babes with boobs bigger than their brains. (Not difficult for most girls bigger than a A cup.)

What I don't understand is what a Youtube Meth commercial is going to achieve. Is there anyone out there who hasn't heard of meth? Is this a brand new danger that we need to notify the public about? If you haven't heard of meth you must have been locked in a shed in the back yard (ALL good movies have at least one character who was locked in a shed for a couple decades).

The people who have done meth knew what they were getting into. I know like five people who died from meth. That's the only commercial I need. Done.

So now I'm going to attempt to make the MethResources.gov: Search feel bad for taking the government's money in the form of a paycheck. Maybe I can start TheSunIsHot.gov and get paid $40,000 per year to warn people of the dangers of the sun. If that's taken, I wonder if KnivesAreSharp.gov is taken.

Oh. I thought you were going to attack the medical and societal scourge that is commercials for heavy-duty prescription drugs. "Ask your doctor (if you have one) about... " so-and-so overpriced prescription drug that your hypochondriac self doesn't really need. "Golly, maybe that'll make me feel better. I am kinda xxxx." Your doctor will write the scrip because he doesn't want to lose you business, because he knows that if he doesn't come across with the pills, the "patient" is off like a shot to the next more accommodating physician.

All this whole process serves to do is exponentially drive up the price of health care, enrich pharmaceutical companies, mess with the vaunted doctor-patient relationship (I don't see wing-nuts worried about this avenue of compromise) and ultimately, not make Americans any healthier.

Yeah, all the "Just Say No" commercials are crap, too. I think the best commercials about meth are the six mugshots of the the gaunt, shattered and vacant individuals shown on the evening news from the latest meth bust. Who wants to be that guy (or worse, that girl)?

Government agencies won't get an increase in budget if they haven't spent the whole thing the previous year.
Ads are a great way to blow your budget and pay your old college pals at the same time.
Or is that pay your budget and...
Looks like we're about to have yet another useless election up here in the GWN, so this is perhaps a timely link.

Let the ad campaigns begin
