I just finished Michael Moore's "Sicko". He makes France out to have an incredible system. It evokes thought. I need to actually dig up some facts before I really agree with this, but Michael Moore certainly makes France seem awesome. Then again, I don't exactly trust Michael Moore.
Anyway, Mr. Moore insinuates that the French really don't hate the US, but the media and government want us to think the French hate us so we won't look into their awesome system. That wouldn't surprise me, but again, you never know. Because I'm a big WW2 guy, I find it difficult that a country would change it's mind about another country in just a few generations. The French put the United States on a robo pedestal. I would too. We saved them from the Nazis. Now, I realize that we are talking 1944-1945 here. However, it seems that my generation would have way too many grand parents telling stories about how the US saved the day for the country to have a true disdain for America. I don't know. Food for thought. Is anyone up on this one? Brandon

they think of us as stoopid but we play cool music. they could care about us and our policy as long as we don't try to make them do more than the euro thing. When the US wanted war, they said no.
It is indeed propoganda.

First off, who cares?
Then, I am reminded of the phrase, 'Cheese eating surrender monkeys'. Lastly, France is the same as the US. Just a bunch of people doing the best they can with what they have. I bet the average Frenchman doesn't think about or give two sh*ts about the US. I know I don't think often of France. They seem to be having to be having their own problems with diversity what with their 'Muslim youths' burning and rioting. If anything, the French government covets and is jealous of our rapidly declining power- which is directly proportionate to our rapidly decling liberties- but whether or not France hates us, I would say no. The really enlightened Frenchmen I would say loves and pities us because he sees us selling out our soul just to please those who really do hate us. |

Not to split hairs here, but the animosity you feel is genuine.
The question is whether what you have been taught is authentic, and so are your feelings valid? What is it that you have been taught to hate France? Is it that they are our allies and they did not support us in the Iraq War- The whole 'Freedom Fries' thing? |
