First I want to say that I'm not a huge comic book movie guy. I don't mind them, but I don't get too wound up when I hear about a new Stan Lee inspired movie. I'm usually a social watcher of these movies.
I was really impressed with the way the last Batman movie was executed so the woman drug me out of my little cave (maybe me and Batboy has something in common) to see The Dark Knight yesterday. Holy hell! I have never seen a better combination of fun and brains in my entire life. This is one of the smartest movies I've ever seen. Comic book movies tend to scratch the surface of big issues, but this one went a bit deeper in the human pysche. I was impressed! In fact, I'm excited just thinking about how well this movie was written and executed. Brokeback dead guy had just begun his career with this film. I can't honestly say that I gave a damn about his depature until now. I had no idea just how talented the little bastard was. As the joker, he's good. DAMN GOOD! I was extremely impressed by his role. Too bad the dude is dead because it's clear that he was about to go down as a robo dude like Tom Hanks or something. I think this was the film that was gonna launch him into the A list. It's clear the world has changed in regard to ratings. There is some violence in this one that the average mom is not gonna want here kids watching. It's rated PG-13. Most of the violence is implied or the camera turns away quickly, but so was Scarface and it was rated X originally. Regardless, this is one bad ass, edgy movie that is extremely impressive. I give it my highest rating. It was worth my $7. Brandon

I absolutely loved this movie and it was the climax of a whole year of really good comic book movies (which I usually am not that big a fan of) Iron Man was great and I really liked the Hulk (even though he's my least favorite super hero) but this has become one of my favorite movies of all time and it really makes me sad that Heath Ledger is dead because I really want to see a sequel.

Gotta agree, this is possibly the best movie I've ever seen in a theater, and I've seen all the Benji movies! I am not a movie guy by any means either, but this thing blew my mind! The wife and I went to see it in the middle of the week at an 8:00 pm showing and the theater was 2/3 full! We we're rooting for the Joker in the end! Gonna go see it again on Tuesday with the kiddies!

Lately, anarchists have been making a lot of sense to me. I had actually been doing some research on the subject a couple of months before The Dark Knight was released. "Anarchism" is just this big, vague umbrella in which a hundred thousand different philosophies reside; most of which are complete opposites of one another. Seems there is an anarchy for everyone, most of which are explainable in a logical way.
But even in the anarchists' family there is a red headed bastard step child, and that is the guy who totally fucks with the social order, without prejudice, just to observe the results of their actions. This is the great mind fucker of all time! As long as there is a motive, even the most disgusting of crimes can be explained away. I'm sure there have been movies in the past where a character commits crimes just to see what will happen. Like I said, I'm not a movie guy. That was the most impressive quality of The Dark Knight to me. That the writers could create a character that hardly anybody can relate to in a personal way in the Joker, and that the actor could portray that character so convincingly that regardless of his (Joker) alieness, the majority of the audience completely sympathized with him. That's good stuff! Can't wait to see the movie again tommorrow. Lump

Another movie that springs to mind in regard to the "fuck it up just for the hell of it" mentality is Momento (directed by Christopher Nolan long before he directed Dark Knight). The movie is pretty damn fucked up, but the short story is hits a memory reset button everytime he wakes up so he writes notes to explain who the hell he is to himself. One day he just says screw it and writes down the wrong notes and in for just a short period of time, he becomes an anarchist. The end result is pretty badass.
