Default Church building / school building consolidation

Why do we build schools with tax payer money? Why do we build churches at all? (That's sort of a joke, but not completely).

Why can't we have large buildings owned by private individuals that Churches rent out on Sunday and Wednesday evenings and schools rent out on Monday-Friday?

Even though the school system will still be a socialist, "internal improvement" at least they won't be able to screw up decisions in regard to the building. In my area, there are numerous multi-million dollar churches that get used 2 days per week.

Then, the school system can get a smaller budget and still give teachers a raise.

Then, the churches won't have to blow millions on their pharisee shrine and can actually spend their cash like Jesus. What would Jesus do with $5,000,000?

Just a thought.

My sons have been attending a school here in Texas that was built by a church that runs a Charter School actually they now have 3 different schools in 3 nearby communities...
The buildings are the schools during the day throughout the week, the church meets some evenings and week ends.
The school receives state and federal funds but can't teach the church's "dogma" and the education blows the regular schools away!

Happens all the time, churches meet at movie theaters, malls, all over...
Mega churches like Saddleback Church (Rick Warrens church) didn't own a building for years they just rented, it frees them up to serve more in there communities. They're not busy fixing up there property all the time.

sorry man.
i'm a jerk tonight. doesn't excuse my bad manners though. i'll try to get a good nights sleep and not be such a jagoff tomorrow.

no hard feelings i hope.

but back to the topic at hand. if you had public school at the church building, the libs would all be lining up to rip down the crosses before the kids could get an education. so good sense couldn't possibly prevail.

back when the country had more sense than money, the church building WAS the school building during the week. it was probably the post office too, and the court house when necessary.

Come on fellers. Let's not get into spelling wars. I don't mind heated discussion about the task at hand, but let's not get into nitpicking about spelling or religion on this one. (Start a new thread if you want to slug that one out )

You are correct. Of course, I would be accurate in saying that Churches buy $5,000,000 buildings all the time that have excessive waste in terms of architecture while schools build multi-million dollar buildings that have excessive waste in terms of architecture.

your still right. i'm still sorry about that. i usually end up apologizing for stupid things i do or say about 10 times every day. and i actually place a high importance on my words, and STILL goof it up all the time. i'm going to start a thread about that sooner or later.

but a church can blow money on whatever they want. it's their right and freedom. is it the best use of money? it's their value judgement to make and their money to blow. its not our business. at all. thats another thing great about the USofA

but it WOULD be great if public school could be held at the local school/temple/mosque. it would be a great synergy, and would address the point i think this thread is really aimed at.

but the ACLU would never allow it. those crosses and stars-of-david would evidently indoctrinate the children to a life of zealotry and hatred (that was intended as sarcasm by the way). there is so much hatin directed at religion its not funny. all the torlerance mongers are the first to throw a javelin at the religious. they should practice some tolerance of their own.

i'm probably not making any sense. so let me re-cap

if this thread is directed at why church building cost so much?....
hey, who cares, its their money, not yours

if this thread is directed at the wasteful non-use of churches during monday through friday when they could double-up as the school house...
sounds like a great idea.
