Default Brandon Cell Phone Pool

It's 2009. I'm 29 years old. I have never owned a cell phone. I hate them because people call me on them. If the home phone were to ring right now, I'd have to stop this post. Life is too short to lose this sort of focus. Too much is at stake and I have too much to do.

I'm expecting major life changes in the next 18 months. I think RecordingReview.com is going to become the dominant force of home recording on the web. I expect to have a real recording facility and house that doesn't blow ass. I may even get suckered in the that blood sucking pile of fecies known as marriage.

I keep a running tab on how many times I seriously wish I had a cell phone. I then divide it by the price of the phone. It appears that I would spend right at $125 per mega-necessity phone call....if we assume a $40 per month plan.

So, my question to you is this: How long can I hold off without a cell phone? I'm hoping at least four more years.

Brandon

Cell phone? You can say I really don't have one either.

I have a Blackberry and only 10% (or less) is using the cell phone.

I text and email most of the time with it (including clients). Comes in handy.

I also participate in Recording Review from my Blackberry (which has its own problems).

I'm addicted to my Blackberry.

I am just over the "hump" you describe. 33yrs. Own a house that doesn't blow etc. Have a successful recording/teaching business. Marriage Aug 1/009 The point that made me take the plung was this. If I got a phone for my business It would cost $65/ month. (they charge more for business phone) A cell can be cheaper then this. Further I want to be available to certain clients (my secretary handles the rest). I call it the bat phone because only certain people get to have the number. On the other hand I have a plan for 1500 min/month and frequently go over I guess I talk like a school girl.

I bet your future wife buys you a cell phone for your birthday or christmas before 4 yrs.. Thats something about spouses.. they like to be able to get ahold of you at will.

Well, marriage aside, you can get away with it. I didn't buy one until I absolutely had to either. I was living in a place that was basically a shack with interior walls and prehistoric electric outlets. Let's just say it was built before phone lines were SP in houses and I needed a way for my employer to be able to contact me (and family/friends on a secondary basis, LOL).

Worse problem will be your future wife calling you LOL...

I need cell phone for work for example, I use nextel a lot (as I work in international logistics), but I can't tell you how many times I was having a pleasant moment of any kind and fucking nextel rang with a voice asking for "the cargo of Siria", "the dox for pakistan", etc... really nasty, but real...

Technology is eating us...

I'm disliking my cellphone more and more. I started having what they now term phantom vibration syndrome, where you feel your phone vibrating but its not. It got really bad happening about every 15 minutes. I took my phone off and after about two weeks it went away completely. I attribute it to something sinister so I no longer wear my phone and only check it once or so a day. Hold off as long as you can. Are they convenient or a leash? Hmmm.

Phantom vibration syndrome. Just put the phone somewhere that you don't mind.
