My kids have the exact same toys as we did as children. I always had a feeling as a kid that if I did not buy a certain toy asap it would be discontinued. I think they make it that way on purpose as to make it feel immenent that you buy something before it is gone. The Bratz bother me though. My daughter loves them, she is 5. They should not be marketing slut toys to 5 year olds. They look like Hunny I Shrunk the Stripper.
Toy manufacturers have it easy. They always have a new market to work with. As long as there are kids, there will be parents who buy toys, and the fact that they are the same toys that we played with as kids we still recognize them and are more willing to purchase them.

I think toy manufaturers have the easiest time when it comes to marketing. All they need to do is put an ad in Spongebob, and a bunch of kids will see it and want the toy. And come on, how can you tell a cute little kid no?
