Default Bands You Want to See Before They Go Bye-Bye

Okay, another thread touched on this (i.e., Alice Cooper and KISS), and got me to thinking....

Which band or artist have you not seen yet, but want to see before they keep over?

My Choices (and I need to stop procrastinating):

- Aerosmith (my high school heroes from the TITA days)
- Eric Clapton
- Alice Cooper
- Rolling Stones (I hear their touring again soon; wheelchairs this time?)
- Paul McCartney
- KISS
- New Kids on the Block (okay, stretching it now).

Sheesh, I need to get of my arse!

These would all be cool, but I'm frankly not up to the three figure ticket prices.

Jeez, GB, that would be a whole different thread: "....and how much would you willing to pay for the concert?"

True. However, I've seen some of the concert ticket prices much lower this year, barely reaching 3 figures in most cases.

Ignoring the economic limitations:

- Boston (although I realized Brad Delp bit the dust already)
- U2

Hmmm. I can't think any more for some reason.

- Eric Clapton
I saw Clapton about 10 years ago and it was really good. I was only about 20 but I was into it....although I remember looking at the gigantic "sponsored by Lexus" banner and feeling a bit uneasy without knowing why.

I know the feeling.

Everytime I'm in a band that plays "After Midnight" there's always some young person asking why we performed a beer commercial.

I didn't include U2 (although I want to see them) because I don't believe they're close to going bye-bye yet! So I guess I'm procrastinating with them.

I was fortunate to see Boston in 1978 on their Don't Look Back tour. Excellent show with some excellent musicians.

I saw them twice over the years at rock festivals and they always put on a excellent show.
Their sound was always much better than the other groups at the show, even though the same main PA was used.

Here's a quote from a article in EE times about Tom Scholz:
Link:EETimes.com | Electronics Industry News for EEs & Engineering Managers

He noted that his best-known song was recorded with low-budget equipment: "The acoustic guitar on 'More Than a Feeling' was recorded using a $100 imported Yamaha 12-string guitar, through a relatively low-end dynamic microphone [the Electro-Voice RE-17], and the drums were recorded by a few Shure SM57s in a little tiny closet. The whole first Boston album — all of the tracks except for the vocals — was recorded for a cost of a few thousand dollars. That's when I realized that you don't need all that fancy stuff ."

Anyway, my list:

1. AC/DC
2. Alice Cooper
3. KISS

Very true and the record label was very skiddish about most of the album being done in his basement, with Tom as the primary musician.

Well, I did have a list that was a good bit longer than it is now, but I've recently began crossing them off.

Now, in no particular order, here's what remains:

The Heavy Stuff:
Metallica
Slayer
Meshuggah
Devin Townsend
Black Label Society
Trivium
Killswitch Engage

Rock & Pop-Rock:
Silverchair
U2
Marillion
The Eagles
Steve Vai
Joe Satriani

Hip-Hop:
Black-Eyed Peas

If my memory serves, this is all that's left.

MT....you need to get off your ass and get moving!

Black-Eyed Peas was a brow raiser, but in the hip-hop genre I'd say it was a good choice. Why? Because I think they got the talent to hang around quite a bit longer (which can be unheard of in the hip-hop genre).
