wow i guess nobody was interested in this topic. you get more attention these days by saying how shitty america is. ill throw in my 2 cents so you dont feel like you are talking to yourself Kyle.
Im pretty much in your camp on this one, although maybe a bit more cynical about the future. Best country in the world, no doubt about it, but I dont necessarily like the direction we are going in. Thats not a Bush-bash. Im not a mindless leftist with Bush Derangement Syndrome, nor am I a Bush boot licker. He has been a mixed bag. My statement about the future is more directed at politicians in general and about American society in general.
I too watch the news pretty much all day, everyday while working, which is probably why im in such a shitty mood all the time. Yes I follow the primaries. All I will say about that is that none of them represent me. If I vote, I will be voting for the least shitty candidate.

thats what america is... it's the freedom to excel, the freedom to screwup, the freedom to be a complete frikkin loser/hater, the freedom to be a blessing to someone else.

thats what its suppsoed to be, yes. More and more, Americans have forgotten this basic tenet of our origin, and are willing to give away freedom in return for having cradle to grave security (im not talking physical security, like from terrorists, but social and economic security). Politicians know this, and promote it and encourage it and pander to it. Politicians on both sides do it (obviously way more on the left, but Bush did it also-look at prescription drug program). After all, it gives them more power. Eventually, a majority of americans will have the entitlement/socialist mentality, and they will freely and knowingly elect an openly socialist government in return for "security". After this happens, kiss freedom, personal property, and free elections goodbye.
I hope im just being a paranoid pessimist because I love this country too-the way it is and was, not the way its going.
