Looking forward to this!

There are quite a few extra-cool threads in the Member's Only section. You can find it underneath the Nail The Sounds forum or just click here.
ADK_Metal_Mayhem.jpg - Contest Rules
1) ONE ENTRY PER PERSON (So go all out on THE one entry for maximum impact!)
To upload your entry, start a new thread within the ADK Mics Metal Mayhem Contest forum with your own descriptive title and use the RecordingReview attachment system to upload your mp3 (I suggest one at a bit rate of 320 kbps). Entries may be entered now until the deadline date, which is 10/17/11.
2) Take the provided tracks, DIs, and MIDI file (which contains 4 instrument tracks; drums, bass, synth, and guitar). Toss 'em into your DAW and paint the canvas however you want. Mix, arrange, write, rewrite, dice, splice, amp, re-amp, record, and/or re-record all you want. This includes any instruments; guitars, vocals, MIDI (re)-programming, drums, keyboards, sax, clarinet, violin, kazoo, YOU name it.
3) When submitting your entry, please list some of the details of your custom project: likes/dislikes, problems you had, and other points of interest that can spark up conversation and learning.
4) Try to make the song sound as original as possible but still end up in the "Metal" category at your local mp3 store. It must cater to a metalhead even though you are free to bend the rules heavily. What does this mean? Who cares? Just make it metal and have fun!
5a) Then, 16 finalists will be chosen through use of the RecordingReview.com public rating system [i.e., the "Rate This Thread" system**, which will be used to rate the contestant's entry thread] that may begin immediately upon contest-launch (now) and will continue until [12:00 A.M. October 25th, 2011]. Then, the 16 finalists will be revealed for all to hail. An appointed panel of judges will choose from the 16 finalists the grand-prize winner(s) through a tournament-style vote.
5b)Just for clarity's sake: The grand prize winner gets prize #1, runner up #1 gets mic #2, runner up #2 gets mic #3. As a note, each entry should be rated based on its "intensity." This can include the 'mix' itself, the vibe of the presentation, or originality in general. In other words, rate the entry based on its awesomeness.
6) In order to be eligible to win [i.e., to be voted into the top 16], you must have rated 5 other entries. If you have the highest ratings, but you have not rated 5 others, you will not be eligible to win and become among the top 16 finalists.
7) "No cheating." This is a fun, good-spirited contest. Brandon will exercise dictatorial powers and eliminate anyone from the contest who's up to no good. So will I [ ;-) ]. If you aren't sure, send Brandon or me (Metaltyme) a PM.
This contest is sponsored by images.jpg, who have generously provided awesome prize(s) for the winner(s).
\m/ Again, the contest will end on 10/17/11. That will be the last day to enter.
[Oh...and questions, comments, and concerns should be posted here for any needed resolution. Have fun, and good luck!]
****You may download all files for the contest HERE. [You can download the RAR file containing all materials minus the separate drum mic tracks all in one shot. Or, you may download each of the materials separately at your discretion.]
**Here's how to rate the entries: Click on each thread containing 1 entry in this contest's forum to see the thread (where one would go to listen to an entry). Then, at the top right of the 1st post, you should see an option with a little drop-down arrow called "rate this thread." Select "1" if you think the entry sucks. Select "5" if you think the entry is absolutely stellar. After selecting your opinion-based rating, click "vote now." That's it...you've rated that thread/entry.
Check out a rough mix of the general tune below.

I especially like the end riff. I look forward to messing around with this! \m/
Maybe I'll stick a vocoded vocal track on top for good measure (j/k)...

how many BPMs is this tune?
Hmmmm, it should be interesting indeed being able to totally mess with it and not just a straight mix. I will have to put on my thinking cap (made of metal of course)for this one.
