I got to my officially-sick-of-this-mix point and went a couple of listens beyond.
Thanks Brandon and Jetface for letting us play with your tracks and really opening this one up. I didn't listen to any of the mixes (except Brando's) until I was about 95% through - wow, what a bunch of awesome talent out there! So much creativity out there ... almost intimidating.
As you'll hear, I only kept the vocals (and snare). Basic song-structure arrangement stays more or less the same (until the bridge) but I went to town on the harmonization and instrumentation. I went for the top-40 radio-friendly retro-80's feel (bit of a nod to classic Jane Child monster synths...)
Hope you like it - I'm looking forward to hearing feedback. Off to listen to some more entries.
Cheers, Dave

Yeah !
talk and ask about funky stuff ? Dig it, yeah !
I was smiling when listening this. coolfeatures, great transitions.
The best stage for Uncle Rubber´s rap thing so far!
Even changing almost all the harmony, it makes the deal for me.
I think that now this contest is getting interesting, colorfull, and hard to tell who from us could win...
Thanks ! Congrats !
EDIT:Since the posting are ended, i rate you as one of the Top Remixes, 5 Stars !

This is definitely different. Lots of cool little things. Refreshing after listening to so many mixes - sounds like a totally different song though... very inventive.
Great funky arrangement here and the additional vocals and synths really fit well. Nice overall sound - though sometimes it gets a bit harsh in the top end.
Good job!

WOW!!!!! 5 Stars......Even though I didn`t like that Intro Synth It sounded off key or just a wierd tone ( what the hey that`s just Personal Pref anyway) Loved the Beatboxing thrown in at the Break.....Bloody 80`s is right LOL!!!!!
This is brilliant. It is right on target for the "The song should feel like the same song." yet remixed. No real criticism other than the ending is a bit abrupt (most of the endings are lacking imo, a difficult one to get right).
A really refreshing mix and arrangement - very nicely done. Good well balanced funky mix. I also found the ending a bit sudden, but enjoyed the vocal and synth additions. Best of luck

While I'm not a fan (personal preference) of the 80's sounds and style... you nailed that groove. The bridge is awesome and really well done - I love the added vocals - where did you get them? Some of the elements / stabs have a kind of jarring abrupt feel to them that makes it feel too crowded at times. The sound and space is fantastic. As was mentioned the ending could have benefited from a delay throw or some other element to ease it out rather than such an abrupt stop. Great job over all and for making it yours!
Great job!! Not too much i can say that hasn't been said yet but i have to echo the thought that this one will be a contender for the win!!

oh my god... this is incredible ! Totally 80's ! Love it ! I can hear some influences/references here ! Just perfect ! Please, can you send me this ?
Regards Badá
Wow, this is another good one! I don't like the dissonant synth (most obvious in the intro) and the added vocals I don't think fit nearly as well as the added vocals by teaforce.
Nice use of throw delay or whatever it's called in the rap.
Sounds like a cross between a mash-up and a remix.
Man, thanks for all the kudos guys - means a lot given all the incredible talent on this forum!
LOL - yeah, that was a total blast putting that together. Really loved the 'tude, although I wish he wasn't sitting in a chair when he did it (you can hear furniture squeeks in the track)
Yeah, I'm totally digging this version of the contest - there are so many different and interesting directions that people are going with. It's like being a kid in a candy store - so many different treats to choose from.
Thanks alkie & m24p - that's the sound I was looking for. The synths is a group of massive sawtooth patches squashed to heck - the chords aren't really dissonant to the key, it's just the sound and the modulation that comes in that makes it kind of "grating". I was aiming to model the synth sounds off of Jane Child's "Don't Wanna Fall in Love"
I buried a copy of me singing the chorus way back to fill it out a bit more, but the rest of the added vocals are actually stock loops that come with Logic. I had to tune the female vox down a couple of semi-tones - she kind of bottoms out from the pitch change in places.
I actually had a final delay throw on a reprise of "can't stop your heart tonight" on the out, but in a fit of indecissiveness, I decided to stop obsessing, muted it and bounced out the mix. Perhaps I should have left it in... ARGH! I can't decide again!!!
Thanks so much Badá! As for getting the file, just right click on the hyperlink to the mp3 and select "Save as" - that should do it.
Thanks again all for the comments and feedback!
Cheers, Dave
Ha ha, I second that! Na na na hey ya!
Hey chckn8r,
I really like the reharmonization you did in the choruses; closer to the classic '80's synth pop feel than the original chords. The percussion sounds you choose are quite funky in a "unicorn" kind of way (refer to the original Mix Till You Puke rules thread). That beatbox bridge is awesome by they way! You really took your time with the vocal arrangements of this remix.
Though I think the rapper kind of rapped to the original key/scale, so during his rather more pitched spoken words it sounds slightly out of key with the new chords you did; or maybe polytonal. Other than that, this remix gives me a really good laugh!
Cheers,
