| Yeah its really impossible to say whose the best guitarist in the world, best can be defined in a bunch of ways.

I'm glad this thread didn't die. I don't think there's any one greatest guitarist, and most of the greats had a long list of influences they learned from, that they obviously thought were worth listening to. Maybe the question could be phrased as the players that you listen to for inspiration.

I don't see that he was the improvisational string wiz that attracted me to other players, but his body of work is quite remarkable. Angus Young got me started back in the late 70's. He is still a favourite. Jimmy Page for feeling, sloppiness and his stage show 1973-1979. Steve Howe is... well Steve Howe. And of course a bunch of others. Impossible to name just one. |
