I've always saw it as a personality thing. One can learn from the other method, for sure. I would just jam to the radio or TV. I grew up buying sheet music, but I don't really get into the nuts and bolts in the ethereal arguments. I do use simple tricks to learn things when I'm stuck !!

IN MY HUMBLE OPINION...
I feel you can learn something from any guitar player if you listen close enough. Some of us treat it as a hobby or companion, some as a release from stress. Others travel down a long road of constant growth and learning. Then there's some people that just want use it as a tool to pick up chicks. Each of has a valid reason for taking up the instrument. So I say to each his own, let the chips fall where they may.

There's a chick bass player sitting in on Jimmy Fallon tonight. He said she played with Jeff Beck.

Thanks, I guess when you get my age you seem to always take a step back and look at the big picture a bit more often. Sometimes I wish I wasn't so damn predictable.

I still like the shreddy guys... John Petruccie is probably my favorite.. Chris Broderick (now with Megadeth) was someone i was around as a guitarist for years. Watching him get better and better untill he was scary was quite inspiring. I definately learned a bunch from him.

That's the little Aussie Chick, yeh she's a cutie ain't she.....

There is an Article in the latest Australian Guitar Player Mag or actually the the tailpiece extension to the mag called Australian Bass Player.

Left school at age 16 with a guitar and headed for the USA fell in love with a Bass and has been jammin' with the best ever since. She Rocks

Lol...yeah if you look back in the thread a ways, we were talking about her back during a Jeff Beck discussion. That cracks me up, we keep getting back to this sweet little bass player in a thread about guitar players!

She is a Q-T pie for sure.
