Default whats this chord??

whats this chord i see being used in many punk songs(guitar pro tabs)::

G |4
D |x
A |2
E |x

how do i play the chord???do i deaden the D string with my finger?or do i use two fingers to pick the different strings??n if i deaden the D string wont it give out the dead note while recording??

It's not really a chord, it's a B octave.

The cool way to play this, especially in a punk band is: to use your index finger on the A string and yes, mute the D string with the same index finger, while using your ring finger on the G string.
You'll also notice if you place the ball of your thumb on the back of the guitar neck in the center while you do this, and straighten your middle finger you will achieve a punk salute.
