so im looking to buy a pedal board and finish off my pedal collection and my next pedal investment will probably be a wah pedal and i was looking for opinions of different pedals i definitely need a durable pedal so im not repairing/rebuying any time soon and id like one with range options as well as other versatility wah boost or built in overdrive is unnecessary but wouldnt be bad if it doesnt raise the price too much and im curious if anyone prefers an auto-wah with an expression over a regular wah... all feedback is greatly appreciated Last edited by tylerxfury; 09-24-2009 at 03:19 AM. |

I don't love the autowah thing unless I want to sound like Joey Satriani. I have a Morely PDW once a long time ago and thought it didn't do either wah nor distortion very well. Currently, waiting for a project to justify buying a Vox V847. It sounds to me like a wah should sound. May do something nerdy like replacing the inductor...

All I really care about is that sweet turnover region and how easy it is to control the nuance. The old morley I tried 30 some years ago sucked for that.

I had a orange maestro or Harmonix(sp?) way back that was pretty sweet. It just fell apart after awhile : )

I've had two wahs over the years that I liked. The first was a PAX wah that was capable of adding so much complexity to my bass that my band would insist I use it pretty much all the time. I finally ruined it when I tried to convert it to a wall wart ( super dumb ass mistake! ) Then as a guitar player I like a Cry Baby and nothing else. It simply sounds like it is supposed to. And it goes wacka-wacka really well, lol. |

Well for slow players like me, my foot, then, adds to the illusion of too many notes - if I can get my foot into spaz mode.

thanks for all the replies guys i equally agree in like the ability to control the depth of the wah and i like something with a good feel, where the pedal doesnt flop nor is too tight to get a 'flow' going, if that makes sense basically from what ive read/been told im guessing original crybaby is the way to go im currently borrowing a dimebag crybaby from a friend but i just cant seem to get the feel for it and the controls arent precise enough to make the sound i want and i too love the wacka-wacka of a wah my line of thinking in the auto wah was just to get a perfect wacka every time instead of having to find a pedal with the perfect feel to it, but i assume autowah doesnt justify replacing a regular wah unless you want a funk sound or lack a right foot =D |

White Room wah !! No, I don't feel the need for that range stuff, myself. I, for one, appreciate your take on the dimebag model. I looked at a few models online again, and the basic dunlop and vox both seem to tout a quick action ?? With these things, one often learns to forget about it and let the foot work without handicap of brainpower. Does that make sense ?
