Default Tube amp trouble...

So...I got my half stack out of storage today...I was stoked...brought it home and hooked it up in the music room...let her w a r m up a bit, hit the standby switch and nothing...blah...I don't know crap about amps and such so I figured a new set of tubes was in order...picked up new pre and power tubes...installed them and still nothing...after a bit I was able to turn the gain and drive to 10 and the master volume to 6 and I got a sound but it was very quiet (like a combo amp between 1 and 0)...I'm puzzled...just wondering if anyone here was a tube amp guy and could point me in the right direction...maybe I'll just have to take it to the shop, but if it was something simple I would give it a go.

The amp has been in storage for a couple of years so it hasn't been used...it's a Laney GH100L(100watt head)...Like I said before I changed the tubes (6L6 and 12ax7)...I even took apart the cabinet to make sure all my speaker connections were good and they were...don't know where to go next...I just figured someone around knew something about it and could maybe help...thanks in advance!

Unless you're absolutely sure about what you are doing you should not be poking around inside of tube amps. The capacitors could potentially have a lethal charge, even if unplugged for a long period of time.
Ask around and find out who the best amp tech is in town, not the cheapest and get them to look it over.
You'll at least have to get it biased for the new tubes.

Just for the heck of it, try plugging a short patch cable from the effects send right into the return, and turn the return level all the way up. It might just be dirty switching jack(s) in the loop...

And yes, you definitely do want to have the bias checked when installing new output tubes.

I, too, want to re-emphasize that point! You could die. Seriously.

Thanks for the input D...but I tried it and it didn't work

haha...thanks for the concern, but I'm pretty sure I can handle it...I've taken apart TV's and stuff so I know the danger...and in any case you can discharge em by getting your buddy to grab them first...

I ended up buying a tube amp repair book...I'm gonna attempt to fix it up myslef... after some reading I'll figure the most likely trouble spot and start replacing stuff from there...thanks for the help anyways! I always hate to pay someone for something I feel I'm capable of myslef...it's kinda the same reason I started recording my own music...If I die, I'll let y'all know
