Default Question about Amp Heads...

I am looking at picking up a Line 6 Spider III HD75 75W Guitar Amp Head, but the thing is, I don't have money for a cabinet at the moment, or anytime soon. Is it possible to plug this head into my home theatre system?

Short answer is no.
I'm sure with enough adapters and cables it's physically possible to get a sound from the head to a home theater system, but it won't be loud enough or sound like a guitar speaker.
If budget is your issue, choose a combo with built in speakers of 50 watts or more. Or if you are just looking for something to practice without a band, get an even smaller combo with a headphone out.

before I made a couple of speaker cabs for myself I used an old Pyle car speaker on my VJ head - worked fine - just don't crank it up too loud or you'll blow the speaker. I just took an old guitar cable - cut the jack off 1 end - bared the wires - hooked em to the speaker - plugged the other end (jack) into my VJ head - turned it on and played

The things we can come up with when we have no money, but lots of ingenuity. I remember making a car sub woofer box out of a wooden trash can I made in wood shop. Looked like absolute hell and sounded even worse.

Car stereo speakers are designed for clear sound at low wattage and volume. They even have dual or tripple cones for band-pass filters for even more clarity. Guitar speakers are paper and are meant to distort and give a distict tone.

But hey, as long as you're not messing with expensive equipment, ghetto rig anything you want and see how things work.

Dude Im not trying to hijack your thread, but i kind of am. But its for the good of mankind. With that kind of money you can get your self a decent combo amp that'll run circles around it.

When it comes time to record, use the headphone/direct out and plug it straight into the mixing board for world-class POD 2.0 direct tone used in pro studios and stages everywhere!
Make sure you use this output, if your head thinks it has a speaker cab and it is really your stereo it might spell trouble. Research ohms ratings for speaker cabinets

Who in the hell wrote this rubbish? I'm not saying that the POD hasn't cranked out a few decent tones a few times, but "world-class POD 2.0 direct tone used in pro studios and stages everywhere!" implies that this thing is the coming of Christ.

The only forum member who has ever made a Line 6 product sound good to my knowledge is Sir brianinogang himself (and it could just be cause hes got shredders hands)!
