Default Mid scooped guitar amp?

I'm looking for an amp to run stereo with my 6505, I'm looking for something with a midscooped tone, since the peavey is really mid-heavy. It doesn't have to be a really high gain amp.

Can anyone recommend any?

Also, has anyone tried a Carvin MTS3200? How about a JCM800/900? What kind of tones can be found in these?

Thank you!

Actually I have found that the 5150's 6505s are very scooped to begin with thou you can add a good amount of mids. The jcm 800s-900s in my opinion are very mid based amps (thou I think marshalls magic happens in the mid frequency anyways)

Everyone has their own idea of what midscooped is. The Randall RG100 is pretty damn midscooped. I think any amp with aggressive tone controls can be mid scooped. The 5150 can get midscooped.

The 5150 is not mid-scooped enough for my death-metal standards. Also I don't want to midscoop my 5150 I like the sound as it is, I want to double it with a mid-scooped sound. I do this on my recordings and it sounds awesome but I'd like to try doing it live... that's why I ask

Well I can understand why you would like the 5150 with a deal of mids...Its sound sick....Its cool that you do that cause the majority of the people usually cut them out. But if you say that the 5150 doesn't scoop enough then I would say you might want to give a tech a call and see if he can mod you out another 5150 with a wider range mid freq pot?!?!?!?!

Yea it really doesn't scoop that much to be honest, I mean really the pots on my amp don't do much at all (except the presence one) compared to amps I've owned in the past. If I recorded a track with the mid on 0 and another with the mid on 10, you would hardly notice the difference. There IS a difference, so they're not broken, it's just pretty damn small. This doesn't really bother me though because the sound I get out of it is exactly what I'm looking for (I'm a melodic metal person ), I don't demand a lot of versatility out of it, I'd rather have just the one sound that I like. I'm not going to be playing blues...ever.

But I am a fan of using two amps! So I'm still looking for another. I would like to get an ENGL, but they are too damned expensive. Even more than Mesa which I think is overpriced enough!

This is true on a tube amp that has total power tube distortion. Other than that, who knows.

Interesting. I'm hearing more and more metal recordings where they right mids are embraced. It's part of the Royer R121 type of sound that has become a huge thing in the past 10 years or so.

Try to find a DC-5 to play on. They are very fun amps and arent' too expensive. I definitely want one.

Do you have any examples? Because Studio Fredman has been constantly coming out with the best sounding metal guitars in the past few years and they use SM57's.

You mention Mesa "... too expensive..." but IF I understand your concept of mid-scooped correctly the Mesa amps with a graphic EQ allow severe (+/-15 db i think) attenuation of the 5 frequencies. I had one of the original early 70s models that I used (until it went to heaven) and the graphic was perfect for that. Surely there's one floating around somewhere on ebay or ???
