Cool Les Paul Standard Faded

Hi folks,

I'm on the verge of buying a brand new guitar for myself, since I need temp replacement for my '76 Les Paul Standard which is getting a well-deserved refret soon.
Since I don't have any decent spare guitars, I figured I would have to save up the bread and buy a new guitar.
I must say I have a very broad taste in guitars and I usually do have a preference for second-hand/beat-up/vintage, but lately I've been considering one of them new Gibson Les Paul Standard Faded series. I still have to try one out, and that will be soon, but I can't seem to find any reviews.
So, anyone out there have any experience on these guitars? Apart from personal likes and don't-likes (which I'm curious about as well), are there any known weak points, hardware-wise for example...you get me.

Any advice would be appreciated, really!

regards, R.

P.S.: oh yeah and don't start about buying a good Strat instead. I really would want to but as it turns out I'm WAY more picky in choosing my Fenders, and I just find it harder to find a good Strat I love. But if you were to suggest such a thing, I totally agree. In time I will find the Strat of my life. Just like everybody else.

I don't know about the "faded" series, but I have a 2004 Honeyburst Standard. I think this is MUCH better guitar than the '73 Deluxe I used to own. Much more playable, GREAT neck too

man I hear ya on the fenders I went out to buy a new one a while back and out of 2 dozen that i played none of them had any mojo....Dude the new LPs are awesome I was a little scared cause people were mentioning the fact that gibson chambers there standards now for weight relief that it gets rid of the sustain and what not, I bought a new scratch and dented one from guitarcenter and never looked back, same great tone just easier on the shoulders!
