Default home recording

what do people here think about line 6 bass pods for home recording

Clearly i'd rather have a large array of heads, cabs, basses and effects, but, assuming I can't, how good are such amp modellers

Also, any opinions on the line 6 modelling bass?

(I do have my own preconceptions of these, but i'd like to see what you all think)

Jules

I've used this thing a couple of times and I must say that I didn't like it. I didn't get to play with it much. The bass players that brought them sort of set them up themselves (with bass this isn't always the best idea).

Anyway, from what I heard, I'll take my Sansamp any day of the week. The Sansamp with a couple of very different bass guitars will do everything you need as far as direct bass recording is concerned.

ditto that on the sansamp!. I have the rack unit which is very nice for most things... very affordable too... can get a bit noisey but that's life.

The bass pod really shouldn't be that bad... there's not too many highs to muck up but I can see it being a disaster in the wrong hands. If it's all you can get... go for it. I have not tried the modelling bass but I did buy their guitar which was promptly taken back... what an utter piece of shit! The worst guitar I have ever played not to mention there was quite a bit of LATENCY when modelling... I can only imagine the bass having worse latency due to the string girth and low number of vibrations/sec. totally unusable for me...

Hi Brandon,

can you expand a little on what you have - there seem to be quite a lot of sansamp variations.
