Guitar Tabs?

Hey dudes,

I was just wondering what was going on the guitar tab world. I heard the big guitar tab sites were getting shut down, but that was months ago.

Anybody know?

Okay Okay...I'll tell. When the assosation sued all tab sites. A few guys started a online petition. I signed it, and so did a thousnad other people. During court, the sites used that and won the case so the guys that sued the sites can't do a damn thing about them anymore.

Oh wow! So the "little guys" won? I figured they had no chance in hell. Awesome.

I wasn't even aware of this whole guitar tabs problem. They were whining about copyright infringement or some stupid thing?

I'm not sure if they were whining. I'm amazed that tall the tab sites weren't shut down, to be honest.

While I'm all for music downloads because I think people will still buy great records. In fact, i think music downloading improves record sales in that more bands get exposure even if the one hit wonder bands don't do as well. I think music downloading helps compensate for the monopolized radio market.

However, with gutiar tabs, I think it's quite different. If want tabs, you can usually eventually find exactly what you are looking for. I'm not sure of the deeper legal meaning of banning free tab sites, but I can tell you that the tab book companies have lost out on a lot of money. Their business has been hijacked.

Oh I see. Well no one can really stop people from writing their own tabs. I guess it's too bad for the tab companies. If it was the RIAA I'd be jumping for joy.
