Default Epiphone Valve Junior

Did anyone try this little guy? Especially for metal with some pedals of course.

I understood that this is a nice amp especially with a couple of mods such as tube replacement and probably transformer mod. But there is nothing about it being metal with some distortion or OD pedal. Did you have such an experience? I also would like to know if you tried it as a combo (the one that comes with 8" speaker)

I have a Version 1 head - with mods - GAIN, BRIGHT and STANDBY switches added. It also has JJ Tubes (came with Sovtek but they were a bit harsh). Sounds awesome. I just got a Version 3 Combo - and MAN OH MAN the V3's are HOT, HOT, HOT. Better trannies, better tubes (EH and JJ) - sounds amazing with the EMINENCE 50-watt speaker that's in it. Sounds so amazing I don't believe any mods are needed - sounds like a PLEXI cranked up. I use a 10" cab and a 12" cab with my head but this combo's speaker is wicked - sounds like a 12" with bass galore (it's only 8"). I use a Korg Toneworks Multi-Effects pedal with it and get terrific BrOOtalZ. I'm sure single effect distortion pedals will work fine as every pedal I try with it sounds great (TS-7, DS-1 and an ART TUBE STUDIO MP preamp) - the V3's blow the heck outta the V1's and the V2's - even modded my V1 isn't as DYNAMIC & HARMONIC as this puppy - and it can growl oh so nice... and THROBBING cleans too until about 12:00 o'clock. LOUDASHELL TOO.

get a V3 (newest model) - beats the Blackheart 5w stack I tested out @ The Guitar Center too. It'll blow yer mind... sounds very similar now to the Gibson 5w Les Paul amp - very melodic with great harmonics and cranked up it sustains for days (it does on my LP).
