EMG 81's or EMG 60's

Hey guys! I'm a lil old fashioned and stick with the mic-ing of an amp deal. I've recently acquired an Explorer guitar with an EMG 81/60 combo. I definitely dig the tone I'm getting (with a touch of eq) using the 60 on the bridge. Does anyone have any experience with using both an 81 and a 60 on the bridge pickup. Just wondering what it does in the recording. Does it give you more bottom end? What would I benefit if I switched the 60 with an 81? Seems like all the newer metal bands use the 81/85 combo. Any takers?

When I was in the process of buying new pick ups for my les paul i was torn between the 85 or the 60. I did a lot of reading and went with the 60 and im happy with my decision. The 81/60 combo sounds great for metal and playing clean. The 60 definitely adds more bottom end to the sound but my sixty is on the neck. Sounds great there in my opinion.
