well, if you want shitty 'hardcore' tones like every other kid in the underground scene, you can go with line 6 amps and, hell, first act guitars however, from a personal standpoint, id suggest the peavey valve king tube amps are slightly more trouble in maintenance, and you may have to shell out a little extra cash for pedals or whatever but the tone is more than worth it just remember to try each pedal you like through a similar or the same amp before you buy... make sure you can capture the perfect tone youre looking for |

I would go for the Peavey. I have seen so many dudes play those Line 6 amps, and not one has sounded good... My other guitar player uses a little 30 watt Peavey tube amp, Delta Blues I think, and that thing kicks ass! In two years she has not had one problem with it. It also responds well to pedals...

I've not heard one Spider that I considered to be usable. There are a ton of great, inexpensive amps out there that you will never outgrow, but everyone I know who's bought a Spider always ends up getting a real amp in a couple of years. (Their tube thingy may be an exception.) Brandon |

I've never had a Peavey, but they are good and have been on my list on and off. 6L6GC are my favs. I can't walk (i don't drive) into a store for 100 miles to test equipment, so I do read what's on the internet - Harmony Central for user reviews.

Check the reviews specifically the reliability sections. You don't want to be onstage with a dodgy amp. I also would look around for a used Peavey 5150 amp. These are rugged, reliable amps and time tested. They have lots of gain and lots of bottom end. Rock 'n Roll!! |

Don't buy the Line6. Buy anything else in the whole world before the Line6. The Line6 is a waste of money and sounds like a poor imitation of a real guitar amp. Clear?
