Any recommendations on a fuzz pedal?

I have a friend with a fender tweed amp, fender strat single coil pu's
.. He's looking for recommendations on a fuzz pedal. I having never used one, am looking to the plethera of experience in the forum for advice to share. I think he's looking for a classic rock kind of sound.. hendrix - purple haze to voodoo child kind of sounds.

might have answered my own question.. found the fuzz face that is pretty easy to find. anyone using this one?

Check out Eric Johnson when you can, he's got some interesting input on the pedal. He basically says the vintage ones are quirky, but if you get a good one it's the way to go.

Yep, the mojo is in the germanium transistors.
There are other makes of pedals using these.

If you're going to take EJ's advice on tone, you may want to remember that his tastes are pretty particular. I love the guy's sound, but if anyone has tone OCD it's him.

The Boss pedal works good for the money. It has 3 different settings so it is easy to adjust to your anp. I use it w/a line 6 Bogner for all my C.C.R. stuff w/a little bit of tremlo on the 6. It gets very close to the Rickenbacher/Kustom tone.
