Monsters by Kakeux
Hi there,
Here's my attempt....
While mixing, I just remembered two words...Kick and Loud...
So I went for a "kill the Dancefloor" Kick and made the song as loud as I can...
Hope you'll enjoy!
Cheers!

Re: Monsters by Kakeux
The kick sounds like it's clipping and distorting.

Re: Monsters by Kakeux
Hi,
It could....But I think this feeling comes also from the strange upper freq sound of the bass, if you listen to the first chorus, the bass is not in and it sounds less distorted and clipping..But this is just my feeling ;-)...But still it could be clipping and distortion...
Sometimes you get used to the sound you get and well you don't here anymore obvious things.
Thanks for the comments.
Cheers!

Re: Monsters by Kakeux
I guess you got carried away with your kick to have more emphasis as you almost lost your hi hats and cymbals , tehy were overpowered also by the hi's of the synths. I like the kick you've got there but you have just overdone it, that it sounded like I have broken speakers in some areas of the mix.
take a listen to my entries >>> sept , oct , nov
in science you have to "MIX it PROPERLY"
in audio recording you have to "MIX it SEPARATELY"

Re: Monsters by Kakeux
Hi,
For sure I overdone it, but it was a choice, stupid?....But it was not suppose to go that far ( I mean broken speaker sound)...
I check it on several system and I didn't notice those "distortion" stuff (maybe I'll need to change my systems or my ears)...Or I force myself to imagine it was the bass sound, that in my opinion has a nasty middle freq sound...As stated before, I probably was used to the sound I got and could notice anymore the obvious...
But I did a lot of other mistakes on that one...I missed some element like hi-hat, but I back them because when I went for a loud mix, they started to be a bit painful and monotone...
But for sure, there are a lot more mistakes in this mix...
I tried my best for 4 hours, I really struggled with it...so now, I just hope it's not too bad...There are people in this Forum that are way too good to get close to, so it was more a fun-test entry for me...And maybe I'll win the communist contest ;-) , as the best mix context is ten steps higher than my skills..
Thank you for your feedback, really appreciated...
Now I'll go lsitening to your entry...
Cheers!

Interesting. That kick is so crazy that I can't really figure out what I think of it. When in doubt, have sex with it. That's my view, bro.

Re: Monsters by Kakeux
Well. This is what speakers sound like when you crank 'em up too loud with a pounding kick. I've never considered the "too loud" sound on a too loud stereo.
This is one freakin' bold sound and for that I give you credit. I do think that we peeing on the principals desk a bit with this mix. 1) That's awesome. 2) We are probably going to get caught and I don't like the idea of spending a week in a prison cell.
The rest of the mix really solid. What you've done here is something I struggle with. I'd WAYYYY rather have crazy ideas that I have to shoehorn into a digital file than have something so safe that I start punching my own penis out of boredom. Guys like us have to segregate. 1) Go nuts and be creative as hell with no rules. 2) Clear our heads and say, "Would I want my daughter doing this?". The middle ground is just right and I think the sound we are used to hearing on robo pro productions.
