All good now
this is my second remix of this song, but im going to upload this first. I used FL studio on this version, i use the midi file on this one and the other version i will upload soon, im useing Cubase 5 on that version, it sound different then the FL version. I use all type of DAW's, i have pro tools 8 LE, Cubase, Reason 4, Live 8, Reaper and Sonar 9. They all sound good, but I love to use Cubase and Protools. I would like to have the new protools 9, but im not going to pay that price for it. I'm useing a EMU 1616M (x1 1616m, x2 1616)interface, a lot people dont like this unit, because it has no head room, but im use to it, it sound good and i never had any pops. Im a hip hop or rap guy, but i do like techno and other types of music, but i make rap beats. Im not a pro, but i have been doing this for about a year. FL studio monster mix was done in FL first, then i bounce to Cubase to arrange it, because I can't get FL studio to downmix it correctly, sound good in FL as long as you dont downmix it, but i alway use FL to make my beats, then bounce to Cubase or Protools.

Wow, now THATS some toms lol!!!
Sounds like the lead vocal could be compressed more. Sometimes it comes through ok, sometimes its burried. Not a bad mix overall. Good luck man!
The vocals should be more audible and front as you are used to do with hip hop and rap music. I like the way you treat the drums.
take a listen to my entries >>> sept , oct , nov
in science you have to "MIX it PROPERLY"
in audio recording you have to "MIX it SEPARATELY"

thanks for the comments, i was mixing late last night and turn down the vocals to hear something and when i downmix it, i forgot to turn the vocal back up. then i uploaded it and did not even listen to the mix after, i want to bed. so i fix them.

Your current FLStudio version seems to have the vocals two bars earlier than the rest of the piece... A bit of errant late night mouseing? ;-)
.
i dont here it ChristopherW, this is a different beat, with different synths. i used the midi files and changed the drums, guitars, bass, and synths. but like said i dont here the 2 bars off, thingy.
It's certainly interesting... not sure why people are remixing intead of mixing, but whatever. I'm sure you learn and have fun this way, even if you don't (do you?) get a chance at winning the prize.
@m24p, i mixed the cubase version and had some fun with the Fl Studio version, i have not else to do this weekend. Know mixing a song for waka flawka to enter a chance for a record contract with warners brothers, my nephew is going to rap over this song for waka.
Isn't that copyright infringement of Jetface's work? :/
M25p what r u talking about? this is a contest, not some file sharing and plus why would want to try to sell this song or use in my material. i make hip hop/ rap beats n this is nowhere close. this is for fun.
yeah but there is a harmonic coherence between vocals and the beat and there your vox is late. it sounds really weird, bad weird. beside that I don't see why to remix this that way, IMO it doesn't suit the song.
But hey, the most important is that you had fun doing this^^
Honestly dude, in the FLStudio MP3 you posted, the vocals are late. Two bars late! It sounds awful if you're familiar with the original, and to be honest sounds like an amateur production oversight because the musical progression from verse -> bridge -> chorus doesn't fit with the vocals.
.
thanks for the input, but if you have read the first statement at the very beginning, it stated that i have been doing this for a year and i did not goto school or have any training in this field. So amateur, im not, im somewhat below that level, but like i said the fl studio version was for fun, and it could be the fl studio engine that made this mistake. I line up the tracks the same way i lined up the Cubase version. Im going back to FL studio and having a look at the Alinement.
it was for fun. i will take it down, if it really hurting everyone ears, but i have until the april 24 to get it right, in my eyes.
i use the midi file for this version and you are correct, the midi were moved over on all tracks over to the left by 2 bars, thanks for looking at for me, i show the 2bar at the end and thougt that is how he/she had it lined up, so i did not move them over, but i really did not notice either, the Cubase version is correct, since it was a wave file and was already lined up. i not good at lining up other people stuff, and about that verse, bridge, and chorus stuff, i never had any formal music training. I do stuff for fun and starting a career in this field is late for me, im Almost 50.
Don't worry, you only make this kind of mistake onceI needed PLENTY of nudging in order to avoid problems I was sailing towards when I first began to experiment with production.
Great to see others still using FLStudio, that's how I began my music composition and production and I still miss things like the Fruity Slicer and its channel sampler, they're so much more intuitive than some Bigger and More Expensive apps (Kontakt for one!)
.
check out this song, i had to remix it for another contest, had to add the vocals to this, it is my nephew rap over a beat from waka flaka, if he wins, he get to sign a record deal with warner brothers, i did all the recording and mixing. by the way i use all different DAW's, i only make beats in FL Studio, because it is easy for me. This remix was done in Protools 8 LE, useing a MBox pro. i really dont know if you like rap, but here go, hit me back, it is not finished.
one question. is this text your nephew's or it's given by the production?
because, fuck, if there's a deal with WB for dirty sex, macho rap, i'm really not aware about the direction this world is taking.
and as for the whole sound, the vocals should be far more agressive, more upper mids and highs, and some compression. Also, but this is an artistic point of view, the rap should go twice that fast, this beat calls for it, it has this eminem vibe.
for what all that is worth...
i have a habit of leaving some words out, i need to proof read my post, before posting. But i never do, so sometimes you will have to fill in the missing words.
I dont lke to compress much, it never sounds right to me, plus you must do what the artist wants in there songs, the Artist in this song, doesn't like much of his low end in his vocals taking out, but is a lot of low taking out, because his voice is changing, since he is only 15. If i add to much mids and highs, in his vocals, he starts to really complain.. i would like to add more mids and highs, but you must respect the client wishes. the speed of the rap is the some as the original artist, which he is rapping with the beat. Majority of famous rappers, do not rap fast, plus this is deep south rapping. the Rap sounds fine, 30 people in hood, said they love it and there is no problem with it at all.
I finished it, so here it goes.
