How does one know when a mix is done? When the paranoia sets in. You know the kind - the fear that one could spontaneously combust, or that your hard drive could crash any minute taking your mix and all your backups with it. That's when it's time to post.
Greatly enjoyed this track - the guitars and vocals in particular were a delight to work with. A lyric sheet would have been nice, as it's sometimes hard to know which lines deserve special attention when you can't quite make everything out.
No drums were replaced, nothing was reamped, no new content was added (aside from one little public-domain sample) - all plain vanilla. I'm sure it would have been better to have waited until the very end when everyone's probably reaching consensus, but where's the fun in that? I'd DEFINITELY forget. <g>
Have a Merry Xmas and a Rockin' New Year!

I really like this one! I especially like how you made the vocals more exciting!
Oooh - I think you're right. The vox need to go down .7dB. That's what happens when you're focusing on something too long. Fixed!
Not a bad mix. The buss comp is distorting. Not too badly but noticeable. A bit much 2-4k on the guitars bass needed some low roll off.
I agree with Paul999. Not bad!
The reverse vocal effect is fun! You creativity points for that. However, the vocal is SUPER SUPER bright on my speakers. It hurts a bit and these speakers are pretty tolerant for that sort of thing.
You've got a vibe on the vocals that I LOVE. You've made them exciting as hell, unfortunately the top end sibilance is absolutely killing me.
I'm in a pickle on this one.
The snare is okay. It's maybe a little boring for the genre and could have more impact.
A beefier snare and de-esser could make this one of the best mixes in the contest. Hmmm.

Interesting! I was listening to some of other tracks and thinking their voxes sounded rather dull. So I'm scratching my head - "Is this just endemic to the style, burying the vocals?" No idea. the commercial mix I was A/B'ing against was pretty similar sounding, within the realm of "mastering tweakage."
It's nice to hear "from the wild" comments in order to get an idea of how things translate in the field. Anybody wanna borrow a stem mix? <g>
