I need a little advice on the mix and the song. The breakdown is a total mess but I can't figure out what effect/thing I'm going for so I just kinda left it as is. I dunno, just lemme know what you guys think.

your song sounds very proffessional and couldnt hear a problem with it, you need to hear my music as it doesn't have depth and is noisy and i don't know what i need to do to make sound as good as yours, Any hints ? check my music page and you'll see what i mean MySpace.com - The Omexus Trail - AU - Experimental / Metal / Acoustic - www.myspace.com/theomexustrail

Thanks guys. This makes me feel and lot better cause I think I have just heard the song too many times. For the bridge, I am trying to get taht effect that makes the vocal swirl and pan from speaker to speaker but I can't get it right. BUt i will turn it up a bit.

Drums were programmed with EZdrummer.....did you think they were real?? I tweaked them quite a bit by EQ'ing each drum seperatly to get a sound that I liked. Oh and I used parallel compression which is awesome.Guitars were tracked with a 57 miced up on a Carvin Mts combo. (which i actually just sold on craigslist/i hated the drive channel) I believe I quad tracked the guitars. 2 playing rhythm panned hard and then 2 playing a lead riff panned 50. If you heard the seperate guitar tracks, they sound sooo small and thin, but in context they work. Bass was recorded direct through an overdrive pedal and then I used cabinet impulses to make it sound like it was miced. You can check out what impulses are here if you don't know. Guitar Amp Modeling • Index page Vox were done with the MXL in my closet. I hung some blankets in my closet which makes the vox sound pretty good to me. Oh and by sounding like blink do you mean that it sounds like that same genre, or do you mean that it sounds exactly like the band? Cause I try not to sound like them as to not be just another blink ripoff band but I guess I have failed. ![]() |

Also reference to songs you are trying to sound like often. Closely listen to a song over and over just listening to the guitar sounds etc. PM me your recording equip and lemme see if I can help you there. |

Nice work, overall awesome! BUT!!!!! Splitting hairs is kind of my thing so here goes!
I think you have a lot going on in the center but perhaps experiment with pulling the guitars out whilst the...is it a guitar or keys? The cool little do-dee-do-dee-do-dee thingy going on. Yeah, my ears thirst for more pronounciation from that particular sound and the guitars swallow it whole. SO if it was mine and if you like splitting hairs too (and I think you might!) try experimenting with different things to bring that out, otherwise leave it alone, put a "finished" stamp on it and move along. |
