hey all:
we're a couple of recording newbies and we want to get bashed in this forum with some constructive criticism. Check out our album here: www.inherentnoise.org/mp3z.html all the bass, guitars and vocals were recorded with a boss br-532 and pumped into a PC for mixing. what do you think we need to do to polish this up? d3fuNcT |

Pretty good for a couple of recording 'newbies'.
Though I'm not an authority on mixes at all, I was wondering why you wouldn't be happy with this mix in general. I guess it all depends on your goals. This CD would suffice if I was a fan and wanted to buy one from you at your live shows. I can see many things improved, but it's only personal preference. The best thing to do is talk to a professional producer in your area and see what he can do.

hey chris,
thanx for the compliments - the way you say 'newbies' makes me proud: i was expecting to get slammed x) we're about to print up 100 copies so we started hunting around for recording sites like this to see if i could pick up any tips before sending a master off to the company that's doing em up for us. i've spent years listening to music but this is my first time "behind the desk" with so many 'live' instruments and vox, so to speak. i've got a lot to learn no doubt, but i'm pretty proud of the whole production. it's this whole 'whoring yourself out' thing that we're having a hard time with now. it's a necessary evil if you want to be heard but we're pretty reclusive, heh. cheers mate, thanx for the words of encouragement. d3fuNcT |

Whoring yourself will allow you to make a living playing music. That's hell of a lot better than having to carry around concrete forms all day.
