Default Video Game Music

I'm working on a demo reel for the Conference in San Jose come March
Does this sound muddy to you? should It be re mixed?
My template crashed so Im pissed I can't easily re mix it..
Even if I do remix, Im not sure I can get the levels that much better, as I purposely turn up the volumes my own without mastering so it can actuallly be heard. If I new my songs were going to an engineer my tracks would be extremely low with plenty DB room.

How am i supposed to make loud AND non muddy music, compression doesnt do much.

I'd really like to hear it to give you a bit of a critique. However, I'm at work and cannot access soundclick (firewall). Is there any way that you could use the RecordingReview attachment system instead of a link to soundclick?

During your preparation to post, the option to upload an embedded piece of media show up after clicking "manage attachments." Then you just browse on your hard drive for the file to upload within your post.

This does not sound muddy to me. The hand drum at the beginning sounds a little dry and out of place but a mastering engineer will often put a small amount of reverb over a whole mix which may do the trick. This mix will also benefit from the brightening that mastering can provide as well.

Nice work!

Sorry man, you did say that it is "up and ready to play," but all I see still is a link to go to soundclick. I can't go to soundclick from my workplace because of its firewall system. If you can't upload the song through RecordingReview's attachment system, I'll just wait 'til I get home. Then, I'll be able to listen. However, paul999 is known around here to have a great set of ears. I'd trust his word without having listened to the track myself...so, you're in good hands.

I don't think its too muddy but it certainly lacks top end / high treble
Loudness increase often comes at the expense of dynamic range - me I'd rather have the quiet / loud variation in this sort of thing.
Nice Tune.

I think it sounds great, personally. Very epic. I don't get the impression of muddiness. "Slightly dark" is probably a better descriptive phrase than "muddy," but I think it suits the music quite well. It reminds of some of the more eerie parts of the Battlestar Galactica soundtrack by Bear McCreary, which I love. If you want to get your mixes louder as a whole, slap a peak-limiter on the 2-bus and jack it up to the point where you can deal with some of the degradation from the peaks being trimmed off...the peaks that you can live without, that is. Nice tune man.
