Default An untitled song!

Woo! I love indecisiveness (especially when it comes to titles for songs).

But yeah, it's hard for me to mix this considering my speakers are effectively broken and are in the process of being refoamed. So, I'd appreciate any advice that anyone can give me on this song.

Some of the transitions are sloppy/bleak/anything else I can think of. That's one thing I know I need to fix, but can't right now.

Thanks in advance!

At about 2:15 or so, it might be interesting to drop the piano out, and bring it back in on the big note at 2:41... I realize it might seem weird since some of that time is sort of solo piano, but I think it might create some dynamics...

Is that a double kick I am hearing in the heavier parts, or some tom fill thing? It sounds really weird... for this song anyway.
Have you thought about adding a basic acoustic guitar to this?

Side note: Man, that piano intro reminded me of division bell era pink floyd.... NICE...

Anyway, cool song... I like the vibe. It makes me feel like I am in a movie.... HA HA.

Hey, thanks for the reply (I was getting a little annoyed by the 16 views and no replies, so that was a relief)!

Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, that is a double kick, I should probably lower the volume on that and boost the bass guitar in exchange.

I'm considering acoustic guitar, but I'm having trouble thinking where it will fit in. I may have it replace some of the keyboard parts in the song - good idea!

And thanks. It's good to know that the song was able to convey some emotions, that's always a good sign. Thanks for taking the time to listen and review, man. I really appreciate it.

I like the piano tone a lot.....The guitar could use cleaning up a bit....maybe a ****er tone and hold out some chords. The them ring out a bit more!

Great piano tone in the intro. Instantly reminded me a tori amos song, though I have no idea which one.

Bass sounds good, maybe a touch boxy or just rolled off too high. Same goes for the kick.

Are the guitars direct? It sounds brittle, for the style atleast. Power chords may be ok, but it just doesn't feel as bluesy as it seems you're trying to portray. Maybe have seperate tracks in the picking and lead type parts with less gain or a different type to offset the chorded sections. I'd probably double the powerchord sections and hard pan them. Then go back and do the mellower stuff and the leads on 1 or 2 seperate tracks depending on if it sounds good with the same amp settings on both parts. Pan those around 10 and 2 ish.

One last thing. The drum track is way overplayed in my opinion. You've got chops, it just doesn't fit the material. I know very well how that is though. On the last track I posted here, I had to wear myself out on the kit and get the noodling out of my system. That way, I could relax to lay down the track because it is way slower and simpler than what I'm used to playing. Without doing that, I would have tracked it the same as you did this one and it would have been distracting to most people.

Minor issues overall. It's mostly tracking with regards to timing and dynamics. Playing all parts to click would help alot in my opinion. Some people like a looser feel so it's a matter of perspective I suppose.

Cool song, man. I'd like to hear it a little tighter with more body...and soul, but nice job overall.

This isnt all that bad!..
Tighter tracking would have cleaned it all up and made it supurb!.
Maybe its just my monitors, but im hearing some pumping compression in the drums when theyre at their peaks, around the guitar solo sections.
I would raise the 10k on the kick drum to give it more edge, same with the bass, fix that boxy sound.
That piano is supurb!.
in the introductory/ up to the climax say guitar solo, i would drop the guitar down untill its solo, then back till the second solo.. seems to be overpowering your nice pinano. :P
good work.

i agree that the guitar "licks" are overpowering the piano. i agree with lowering the guitar til the solo. the drums are too loud too. get the piano to "sit" on top of the drums comfortably and listen for a while. then mix the guitar as suggested.

great song. and great sense of composition. very nice indeed.

ps: when the guitars "take off" the piano might be a little busy. you could dub a second piano there just playing (and replacing) the simpple chords that the guitar is playing. fade the busy piano out there and bring it in later.
