.rar?? Are you using Linux?
Oh well, I'm used to dealing with Linux shitheads, so it's no big deal. (In case anyone doesn't know how to open .rar files, I recommend 7zip. (It's free).
There are a couple of different kinds of recordings. There are those kind that are meant to be done to convey some kind of emotion or feeling. There are the kind that are used when Geraldo discovers the death camps (or whatever it is that Geraldo does). For example, that guy losing his mind when the Hindenburg went down is a hell of a recording but applies more to the second method than the first...or maybe blurs the line in some ways.
It appears to me that you simply wanted to document your playing of the trumpet. Kind of like a sound designer recording himself walking on concrete to replace footsteps in a movie.

Please let me know if the quality of the recording is any good so I know whether to stick with this mic or get a different one.

If you can't figure out how to get a sound that excites you out of the one you have now, you probably aren't going to get excited without getting better at recording yourself. I'm sure there are some mics that are a little better than others for whatever sound you are going for, but your post seamed like the mic was the sole factor in the tone and nothing could be further from the truth.
I've never actually recorded a trumpet. They don't use those much in the kind of rock / pop music I usually record.
However, the mic seams to have documented your performance fairly well.
If you were going recording method #1, you'd need more "soul" in your playing to begin with. I'm not sure if the robo big boy trumpet guys use the 'student' versions either.
Anyway, I didn't mean to get excessively complicated here. I just wanted to say that if all you are doing is documenting, you are doing fine. If you are really trying to create music / art / whatever you call it, then you have a lot of areas to improve in.
