I loved this song when I heard the first mix way back when....

In fact, the other night I was camping with some guys and we blasted that song and it sounded great then...
I can't wait to hear this version next time!!!

Mikro...fantabulous mastered recording. Very nice. I'm gonna download it from that site so I can put it on my ipod. The difference between the two recordings is drastic and awesome.
Brandon...this has got to be the single most valuable website I've found for guys seeking input on their recordings in an environment that is consistantly positive, professional, and inspiring despite my best efforts.

Cool Re: A Testament To Bash This Recording

I really enjoyed listening to this song. The drums sound very natural.
The harmony of the vocals has a really nice blend. At the beginning and other places in the song I feel that the vocals could be slightly louder. I like the crescendo that builds from 1:55 to 2:00. The guitar solo starting from 2:58 to 3:20 is being overpowered by the drums at times. Turn up the volume and add some crescendos and bring out the high points at the end of the solo. The guitar has a nice sound. Thank you. I really enjoyed it.

Thanks for the input Ice, yeah there are flaws, but I just wanted to get it to the point of saying "good enough for me"
Also we're back into playing live again, did the CD release last weekend and have two shows next weekend, if I hear these songs anymore I'm gonna puke. Luckily we do a lot of improvisation on the stage so they don't always sound the same, sometimes they suck. We're writing again so I'll post some up for review as they come along.

My next question is, how far should you go with an indie recording? I printed 100 CD's and after 1 show we're down to 25 with maybe 15 given away. Should I print another 100? Our town has only 40,000 people. Has anyone else had experience with this?

Great song. Definitely a huge improvement with the mastered version. (Who did the mastering, btw?)

If you sold 60% of your CDs in one night, I'd say print more!

Scott Pinder @ polyphonic mastering studios in Winnipeg MB did the mastering. I can't say whether he did a good job or not as I have nothing to compare it to. One thing I've noticed however is that it seem to translate well to any system, which my mastering on ozone 3 didn't always do and the songs faded in and out well together. It's also been on a couple of radio stations and sounds good to me. I guess that's why you get it mastered though right? You mix it till it sounds good on your systems, then the mastering guy gets it sound commercial enough to sound good on everyone elses. He also said the recordings were pretty good and didn't have any issues with them . Before I sent them however I got them to sound as simular as possible before sending them as far as levels of the instruments where concerned. I'm down to the last 15 CD's and haven't even promoted it yet with 2 shows this weekend so I guess I'll order more, the next CD's made are pure gravy so that'll be nice
