Default "Sweetly Broken" acoustic version

This is my second post tonight so I'll stop here...don't want to over do things..

The song is a cover of a Jeremy Riddle tune that our band "miqveh" does and we want to have it for our demo CD.

This was my first attempt at a pure acoustic recording (only the bass gtr is electric). Learned that it is tricky. We did it without a click track to get a live feel - and it show's up with a few timing issues. We play this live alot and it feels more natural then, than when we were trying to record...

The drum is a djembe and I tried several mic'ing experiements. Finally went with Audio Tecnica AT3035 overhead and a sennheiser e835 in the hole and then blended them.

comments? suggestions

gee!! another great song!! the jimbee seemed a little too out front in the mix to me in the beginning.it seemed to be brought down some later in the song.i almost feel like getting my bible and writing a sermon on the primacy of his holy name!!!! i found it was missng from this song as well!!!! is there a reason for that,if there is i would really like to know what it is??? still though another great song!!!

Thanks for the great comments. For this song, it is a cover, we didn't write it so can't comment on the lyrics (except that I love it "as is").
I think you are right about the Djembe, need to fade it in a little more slowly.

No. "The Christ" is an original, written by Kathy Kerber, our vocalist and keyboard player. You can check out more original stuff at "http://www.track10.com/site/artist.php?band_id=5477"

Djembe sounds great! Although listening through my computer speakers (crap) I felt if you rolled off just a little of the top end on the Djembe it may sit better in the mix. I.e I felt it needed to be slightly less at the front of the mix.
Im about to record the djembe for the band adsono. There demo is just a recording of a rehearsal. What do ya think of the style of djeembe playiong in this band. Any tips on recoding it?
