Default Song with vocals

I've posted this one before without the vocals, but the mix is a tiny bit different and i'm having some trouble getting the vox to sit right in the denser parts of the song...

update: added a new mix with less rhythm guitars and more automation on the vocals

You could do 1 of two things...
1. have the vocalist sing higher notes this will also be louder during those parts.
2. Compressor limmitter on the vocals. and/or maybe envelope the volume on the Vox.

I don't know what your opinion of "sit in the mix" is. My opinion is that the vocal would stand out more if the rhythm guitars at 30% left and right could come down. To me, they are harsh and conflict with the vocal. You might also squish them with your compressor. Try this: Attack and release as fast as possible. -14 threshold, ratio of about 4:1. See if you like it. If not monkey with the settings.

The lead guitar in the middle is just about right.

A little higher EQ on the vocal might also prevent it from conflicting with the guitars. But remember, cut narrow, boost wide.

I see what you mean, around 1:20 the vox nearly drop out.
It's a level thing in addition to what everyone else has said so far.
You can't be close to pegging out the meter so turn them up for starters.
Not sure what DAW software you are using but I suggest to try some automation for volume if you have that available to you.

Vocals have really helped this song tremendously as I wasn't to fond of your original post but I hear a lot of potential here now.

After listening to the second cut I realize the vocals sound monotonic. Sort of sounds like Johny cash trying to RAP. I feel it needs more variation

I quite like the tune, but the vocals do get lost.
Sounds like the vocalist was singing in the next room.
I'd suggest to make the vocals more present with a bit of eq, compression and less reverb
eq some harshness out of the guitars could also help.

I really dig this song. I think the vocals could be a little more forward through the whole song. I wish I could give some useful advice but I am new to this myself. Mostly I just wanted to complement your song. Keep rockin'
