I like the unexpected tempo shift. I also like the sound of the drums and that the kick isn't too clicky, although a bit more focus or click would work too. I'm not in love with the guitar tones though, but I can't put my finger on why, exactly. I think they are too mixed with the bass. Try rolling off some 50hz and lower.

Yeah, I'm listening on my laptop and i cant hear the kick at all, so i'll try and give it a little more click.
As for the guitar, they're rolled off, but the bass is also heavily distorted. Plus it's a POD Unfortunately my only real amp is a THD Univalve (well, not unfortunately, I love it) and it just doesn't work for this kind of stuff.
I have some guitar amp plugins that might work. I'll give it a shot.
Thanks!

First off, most everything in and of itself is recorded well so good job with that. Also, the music is cool. It's typical metal riff stuff, but that's what you were going for right? So, mission accomplished.
Now, when you throw it all together the guitars just aren't "heavy" enough for my liking. I would play around with the settings a bit more to get a nastier tone because in some parts it sounds really bright and on others it gets muddied in with the bass. Perhaps cut a bit out of both the highs and lows?
Kick has a good click on my phones but not a whole lot of thump, perhaps allow a bit more of that to make it more pronounced.
The rest of the drums are recorded really well, I really like the sound...but it sounds like your floor tom is out of tune, I keep hearing a ring after you hit it.
The bass is in the mud, it's hard for me to tell if it's the tracking or if it's the clash with the guitar but it really sounds like one big blur of low-end blah. This might have something to do with the strings you are using if they are old?
In closing I think it's great to hear metal stuff on this forum! Keep it coming and it would be sick to hear some vocals one day.

I like the music but have to agree the guitar sound doesn't fit the metal effect you're going for. It's too dry and too thin for my liking. I wonder what amp you're modeling? If it were my sound, I would add more lows and mids, some delay and reverb, and compress it a bit. A lot of metal players tend to favor rectified type amp sounds.

I really like the dynamics & changes you have put in this one, especially the middle bit where you go for a half time feel. Drums sound good - they just need a little finessing in the Eq dept to give them more clarity. Although I can't say I absolutely love the guitar sound you're getting, I like the fact that you're not going for a stereotypical modern metal sound. I don't really go for the modern 'rectified' sound myself &, also being the proud owner of a Univalve, I can see why you've gone for the sound that you have, as it's got it's own thing happening. I think the best thing you could do is get some real amp tones happening on this track!

I like the song. Timing at the begining seems to be a bit loose. Lots of background hum. Lots of finger/guitar noise. Rythms guitars could be a bit less muddy. By the time you get a singer in the mix a lot of the other stuff may not matter. Bass has a cool sound to it. Good work so far though.
