Default Prog rock-ish instrumental. need mix advice.

I've been all up in my Pink Floyd collection and I was just feeling like making something different. I'm going to add some instrument change-ups, solo and vocals but I was wondering about how the mix is sounding as it is now. I know I may get some replies stating that the 16k range is high, but I've tweaked in various ways that whole range to try to give it a high sound without bleeding. I think I did it, but I definitely want to get some outside input.

What types of instruments did you use on this recording? It sounds like a lot of the sound could be chalked up to just the tone of the guitars and bass...and drums for that matter.

just a thought

The rhythm guitar freq is in the same range with the bass making a muddy mess. The ride cymbal is hissy because of a compressor or to much 10k.I like the lead in the intro. It has a single coil sound to it like a George Harrison solo on a silvertone guitar. The bass drum was more whoooooofy than Scooby Doo,It knocked my speaker off my console.I like the song idea and the playing but some of those tones and presets are pretty bad.The engineering was not the greatest. This is a nice song idea worthy of taking another shot at recording it and mixing.Keep it up!

rockerdude, I hear you on the muddy bass and guitar part. The bass is actually the same guitar. Sometimes you have to go with what you got. I'm going to go back and try to eq those two things out and knock some of the hiss out of the top end. I have a slight flange on the cymbals, so that could be where it's coming from. I appreciate the insight.

The bass drum is too boomy for my taste, it's kind of distracting.
I don't quite like the hi-hat sound (sounds like there's 2 of them, or is it a cymbal?).
The snare could be louder and have more punch too.

Keep up!

Here's a totally revamped version. I changed the entire kit and tried to fix the muddy tones. If this doesn't work, I may just re-record a good part of it. Thanks for the help.

Sounds better, but there's something that sounds like a metronome (on the left side I guess).

There's also something strange happening at 0:25. Sounds like something's wrong with the fade out/in.
The snare also could have more high frequencies, I guess.

Keep up.

Alright. I've fixed a few more things and would like to get some thoughts on the new version. It definitely sounds cleaner, but I still don't know about the highs. Anyone?
