Well I definetely think there are some good elements here as far as songwriting goes. That being said, I think that the riff on the intro and verses is a riff that is really over used in rock and it takes the song down a notch when it comes to originality. I would try and change it up just a little so that its not so obvious. I really like the use of piano here and I think you should use it more in the song, in fact I think you should replace the lead guitar part with that piano part. Lastly, on the chorus when the drums go from regular time to half time it's not really working it. I would just play half time through the whole chorus and regular time in the verses, the beat on the verses works really well and compliments the song very well and the chorus needs to do the same.

Thanks for the input Mark P.I am the engineer and producer on this track. The band is one of my clients(YKK) This is a ruff mix and they want to change a few things. They are all pretty young 18&19 and the drummer has been playing since christmas 2007.I think there pretty good for such a new and young band. All the tracks are real instruments.Sterling Sound Studios

I like the pounding drums. I hope they stay pounding once you make this mix loud (if you into the modern loudness thing).
The only problem (and it's a big problem) is the mix hurts, particularly the vocals, in the 1-3K range (I always have trouble identifying that frequency). At moderate levels my eyes are squinting. So that MUST be addressed. I have problems with this one from time to time too. Pain is an automatic F. It's about the only automatic F. Deal with that and I think we'll be a lot closer to A. The song appears to be really good. Brandno

Yeah they certainly do sound like they are 18-19. But I agree that they have some potential. I really think that the little things I suggested would help the song in a big way. Now whether or not they are open to that is another issue. But it sounds good.

Brandon thanks for checking out my mix. What a treat! I used a tlm 49 through a custom built preamp into a carvin console into pro tools.I have a bomb factory bf 3a and autotune on the vox and I had the digi 7 band on it for this mix.No console eq was used.I took off the digi 7 band eq. You were right It took away the mid high harshness now it sounds nice and clean. These vocals were doubled and I used my eventide h3000 d/sx for a little rich plate verb and thats it.check out my studio at:Sterling Sound Studios

The song is really, really good. I especially like the light reprise of the chorus you did in the background behind the water. Very subtle touch, but very visual and dramatic all at the same time.

Glad you caught that...I used thunder and rain from a sound effects cd and a 39 ford car sample driving off then I ran the song thru a cosmonaut effect for the am radio in the car driving by.Wow!Why do I do it? Cause I care.......

Well worth the effort. I love listening to music that has little surprises tucked away like that.
