I think it sounds pretty good. Just missing some kick-ass screaming...
Like the guitar work...

Im not a pro, but you should probably give the drummer more panning if you can, and just bring the mix out more...

For example I would probebly use the iZotope plug-in i got, and maximize the sound more and compress it. It just sounds so not in my face [i dont know any other way to explain that...] and this always happens to my mixes but im working on it too...

What program are you using for drums? The tone is pleasant.

Your guitar tone is pretty nice too! Use a high pass filter to get rid of everything below 250 hz (its in the eq section as a n L flipped clockwise 90 degrees (as a starting point) on your guitars. That will allow the bass to be heard. I would also cut out heavily at around 67-80hz on your bass guitar track to leave room for your kick drum.

What equpiment did you use for everything?

shure sm57 through a mixer to my computer, im using an ibanez 7621, peavey ultra 120 plus, marshal 1960 lead, bbe 482i sonic maximizer. im using ezdrummer drumkit from hell for the drums. im trying to get really critical feedback for this as i want to eventually use it and be proud of it haha

Whatever you're doing with your guitar tone, I suggest don't change mic placement. You may want to tweak eq a bit on the amp. Try what I said with the low frequencies. It sounded like DKFH. If you want more power out of the snare toms and kick, put a compressor such as the antress compressor and use the "drums 5" setting and lower the threshold a lot and lower the gain. Also try using some plate verbs on the drums. (If you don't know where to find the antress plugins, search "best free plugins" on the forum and you should find a link or two.

thanks man, im working on that high pass and i compressed the kick and snare. im using nuendo roomworks on the snare verb. should i be using it on the overheads or anything like that? also, what frequencies should be sought after in the kick drum and bass? and which ones should be lowered. i noticed while doing the high pass it seemed to be just too thin at 250 hz.

The guitars are mean as hell. The drums need the weany knob turned down about 2 notches. I'd like to hear them a bit louder even if you just knock those peaks down with a limiter. I've been listening to Dragonforce all day so my ears should be adjusted for metal.

What amps did you use on this recording? I'm impressed!

AHHH!! On metal? No way!!! Based off of listening on my computer speakers, these are some of the biggest guitars I've ever heard. I'd probably pull them down 1dB, but I DEFINITELY would not cut that much off the bottom. At least not for this tune. There is a need to make room for everything in a mix, but you can take it too far. I'd rather be a bit on the "too big" side than on the "toon thin" side.

yeah i was weary of doing a hi pass that much i did it at like 100 hz. its obviously far away from commercial mixes. but i know if i apply myself i can get something close. any tips? i think its just missing somethings, idk what.
