Default Out of Left Field (for me)

Hi all, Here's something I put together one night while experimenting with some sounds in Sonar 7 & various soft synths. It's certainly not completed...& it's NOTHING like I would normally do...but I'm wondering if I should develop it further by combining it with some more organic sounds (ie. guitars) or should I just bin it as a novelty? I really have no idea about this style of music (or even what to call it) but I had fun anyway!

Hey man, sounds like there could be some potential here I wouldn't dismiss it. Dance/techno is not really my thing either but if you do it right it can be really cool. I think adding some organic instruments is a great idea. Maybe even slowing it down a little and making it sound less busy would make it stand out more in my opinion. If your looking for some great examples of this kind of thing I'm talking about check out Thom Yorkes "the eraser", "danse macabre" by the Faint and anything Radiohead especially their later stuff. Again this is just my opinion I could be way off base here.

I like it a lot. You could do several things with this: You could start with everything the way it is and introduce vocals, then have a 2 beat pause and just bring in all real instruments (this could be real promising). You could keep it the way it is and expand. You could trash it, I wouldn't. I'd say that your choice of instruments was quite well done and its well arranged. Experimenting is fun, so have fun with it!

This thing is really pushing the limits of what you can get away with in terms of low end. I'd check it on a few systems with subwoofers just to make sure the low end isn't excessive.

Other than that, I think you did a great job.

Hey, thanks for listening everyone...that settles it, I'll definitely file this one away for further development. Once I get something organized, I'll post it back here for further mass editorial critique!...Which, by the way, might actually take until 2050, at the rate I get things done!!...ah so many ideas, so little time...
