New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
I have not submitted a tune here for a while New tune with added distortion on vocal, Bass and drums may not be to everyones taste, this is by no means a mastered track just the use of ozone 5 to beef up the volume.

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
Cookin' guitar riffs! Love the sound in general - the ridiculously roomy drums are very cool - messy in a good way...
I dunno, mixwise it seems like everything is competing with everything else in the midrange - the vocals are pretty hard to make out - it could be a case of just clearing some space with eq cuts, but it might be an arrangement thing too.
Love the song though!
PS. What are you using for amp sims these days? It sounds great...
I just came across this very cool sim. that I think you might like (if you're not already using it!): Scuffham Amps - ProductSome of my most recent ramblings: http://www.recordingreview.com/blog/...#comment-25048

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
There's some very unhappy distortion at 0:19-20. The drums feel unnaturally wide insofar as their wideness is distracting. Classic: overly hot limiting burying the vocal, esp. by the guitars. Bass guitar reaches up and washes over the proceedings numerous times. All the sounds are really good, though. The Strat is very Strat-y, etc.

New Mix has replaced the old above cheers.
Oh and not a Strat it's all Telecaster don't let those one eyed Telecaster lovers hear you say that.

So crazy that way. I can make pretty good mileage on a Strat but have no idea how to make a Telecaster work right. Every time I pick one up, I might as well be trying to play a tree branch or a rock. I'm actually somewhat jealous of Tele players.

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
This hits a whole lot harder now. Still could use more vocal. There's a part of the lead guitar that jumps way out there (1.5-2.0k). I don't think I'd be afraid to try a MBC on it.

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
Sounds really good! Loving the guitars!
I would just suggest to make the vocals more present and more cutting through the mix. One thing that I use and that helps quite often is a multi-delay. Delay around 90s for left and 100ms for right, use an aux track and blend it to taste. Parrallel compression helps also to get vocals more present if blended correctly too.
Really nice work here!
Cheers!Just doing it for fun!

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
This mix sounds really aggressive and grungy and awesome. I think you need to work on getting the vocals a bit more unburied from the guitars especially.

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
Yeah I hear you all on the vocals I kinda deliberately kept it buried a little as lyrically it's no Dylan song but I might do a clearer vocal mix just for you guys cheers for listening.

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
The latest mix sounds fantastic - HUGE improvement... I can hear the vocals much clearer
For some reason, the drum fill coming out of the chorus "wrong-foots" me - I'm not sure if it's the pattern itself, or the fact that the snare sound is so full-on... maybe adjusting some velocities might help?
This song is very cool - I like it more each time I listen to it - My wife just heard it - I think you have a new fan! Some of my most recent ramblings: http://www.recordingreview.com/blog/...#comment-25048

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
This song is really great! I didn't get a chance to hear the first mix but I think the vocals are a bit burried.
I love the tones for everything! The groove, arrangement, vocal style, musicianship. Everything is great!

I love the dirty spaced out drums! It give a feeling of super space to a very unique song. I did notice some distortion somewhere in there and the vocals are a tad buried. But nothing insane.

Re: New Tune With added Distortion maybe not to everyones taste.
Great sounding drums, a little too spaced in the context of the song for my liking, but nothing major. Could you please go into a bit of detail on how you achieved your drum sound? With emphasis on snare verb? Love to know your technique!
Great job
