sounds good to me. clean mix. what guitar effects did use in this track?? still sound good even if its direct. but i think your guitar sound would be better if you mic'd it.youre definitely on the right track bro. just a few improvements on this track and it would be all good. i also posted a test recording. its "damage control". just a few slots under your post. bashing it would help a lot. thanks bro and keep mixing bro!! good job.

My 5150 just crapped out and is in for repairs.....Otherwise I would be miking my cab...... I just cant find a clean but heavy direct sound.....Maybe its my shitty playing technique or crappy m-audio fast track? But my Gnx3 isnt giving me anything great, even though Im using the professionally modeled sounds for mtprosound.com . I use some amplitube2 and guitar rig 3 stuff with Waves Ir for the cabs. Nothing seems to be working for me.......And I just put emg 81 in my guitar, so finding my tone has now started from scratch. |

im sure youre gonna get your desired tone sooner or later. just keep tweaking. for me, recording the old way is still the way to go. i have nothing against using technology to advantage but i still get satisfactory results by micing rather than di. anyway your guitar sound is still good even if its di. awesome work bro. two thumbs up for you on that.

I think you ought to wait till you get your amp back and mic that sucker up. It's kind of inhibiting to attempt to criqitue this when you know you can get a better raw sound, but you're sticking to DI'ing. It's not bad, its actually the best mix you've done that I've heard. Cymbals are too loud, and the guitars are a little low. They have content, but low mids are kind of iffy on them, they're not really chunky enough. The bass could have some upper mids boosted, I only hear it when the guitars are soft. -Greg |

Man! I'm too old to get into this type of music but you come as close to making me want to as anyone. I use fast track too but have not been able to learn how to add drums! How in the heck do you do this so well?

I write the songs is a program called guitar pro.......I then export the midi file of the song. I delete all tracks except for the drums. Then I use the drums midi track to trigger ex drummer, which is real drum sounds. Most people on here dont like the drum sounds....... On a grand scale, I dont think most outsiders would know the difference. Thanks again. |
