Default New Inkognito track, "I Feel Cold"

I guess I'll post this song in the 'bash this mix' forum, instead of 'bash this song' because we're not entirely convinced the songs is finished. We're going to lower the vocals on the choruses, raise the bass a cunthair, boost the drums in certain places, and work on a few other things. Hopefully, if we all put our heads together and work hard, we'll get the song to suck like all the rest of our songs.

Anyhoo, you can go to www.inkognito.moonfruit.com/music to give it a listen.

    It's the 3rd track, I Feel Cold.

.......Great job on the site Brandon! I like this new forum layout.

I dig the song. One of the best you guys have written.

Alright. Time to BASH... THIS .... MIX!!! (I'm thinking Bozo the clown and the. GRAND ...PRIZE...GAME)

From a mix standpoint, the thing that jumps out at me is the out of tune acoustic guitar. The acoustic sounds like a DI and that drives me bonkers too, but that's just a personal thing. The mix has energy. That's the whole point and the hardest thing to get right. It's not an Andy Wallace mix ( http://www.music.com/person/andy_wallace/1/ but as I said, the song comes across.

The drums sound like they were recorded in a tiny room. I know because I have to work my ass off to get the drums to sound like they weren't recorded in a tiny room. ( That will change before too long when I get a real facility).

There were a few places where the doubled vocals go a little of sync. You can clean them up in your recording software. Other than that, it's got balls.

Keep up the good work dudes.

    Brandon

Thanks, yeah the vocals will require the most attention I think. I agree about the backup, but I think when we bring them down, that should do away with the problem. We were running out of time that day, and the vox were the last thing we did. Apparently, we needed more time.

The acoustic guitar wasn't "DI", and I don't think it was out of tune, we used a tuner. It was just tuned differently. I'm the drummer, so I know nothing. They use weird tuning styles. Crazy bastards. They're too caught up on it being "different", instead of "good", if you ask me, haha. We need to be both!

The drums were recorded in a BIG room. The whole place is virtually open, no walls, etc. He does have a soundroom and a small bass room (more like a closet). And get this B......he uses absolutely no overhead mics on the drums! None at all, just 1 for the snare/HH, 1 for the 2 mounted toms, 1 for the flr tom/ride cymbal, and 1 for the kick drum. For some reason, they sound pretty good. Maybe it's the brand of mics. Again, I know nothing.

Brandon, we'll be looking to book at your place some time next year. Don't know if it'll be an LP or EP yet, but we'll let you know a few months in advance. Cheers!

Damn it. That's like hearing about your buddy who is tired of pounding the hell out of his girlfriend with huge boobs, a tight ass, and a closed mouth (except for special occassions..har har). Oh well. My time is coming. I'll get my big room, damn it.

It's very strange how recording tricks differ from one studio to another. I've went through various phases of recording drums with 2 mics - 15 mics. It just depends on the project and the sound they are after.

Keep up the good work, Randy. I'll be hear when you are ready.
